I enjoy eating meat and I have been partial to the NY strip steak. But why is it called a NY strip steak? I am a novice to steak and want to learn more about the different types of steak and I would appreciate it if you schooled me on the subject. How to cook it? How long? Steak sauce, yay or nay? Where are the meat experts?
Is your Google broken? source [rquoter] In 1837, Delmonico's Restaurant opened in Manhattan. Self-proclaimed as “America’s first fine dining restaurant,” one of its signature dishes was a cut from the short loin that was called a Delmonico steak. Due to its association with the city, it has since been referred to as a New York strip. [/rquoter]
Salt, pepper steak Heat pan till it smokes, add olive oil. Cook steak on each side for 1-2 minutes or until well done if you're a puss. Sear edges and drop a slice of butter on pan. Spoon melted butter on steak. Place steak on plate and let it sit for a few minutes to absorb juices.
Thanks! It is currently functional but I didn't want to google but rather hear it from Ottomaton. Thanks. You made me hungry.
SO is love and women sometimes but we keep going back for more and more. Sorry, I am a romantic at heart and I can't trust what someone says about steak when they have chicken brothers in their name. I love breaking bad too.
Yeah cooking it at just the right amount of time makes all the difference. I rather have a bit of blood (not too much) if it means I only have to chew it a few times versus chewing tough overcooked (well done) meat.
Isn't this like a part of the cow that is the most succulent? Like it's a cut of meat above the rib or something?
I get prime ribeyes at our local costco (I live in northern NJ). Really great value at $12-15 a pound. Same thing at a good steakhouse will probably go upwards of $40

I mean if you have a $2 skirt steak, then fine. But a good steak shouldn't need steak sauce -- you'll be hiding the flavor
