    1. Nobody is claiming Camby off waivers at his current price, at least not the Rockets, Clippers or Bulls. This is because all three of these teams are over the cap and do not have the cap room to take on Camby's $4.3M salary (and this is assuming that they want to pay him $4.4M in the first place).

    2. The way it will most likely work is that no team will claim him off waivers. Camby will become a free agent and will choose where he goes based on whatever factors he deems relevant-- expected minutes, chances of winning a championship, salary, living situation, quality of strip clubs, etc. It's really a matter of Camby's personal preference at this point.

    3. Salary-wise: The Bulls and the Clippers can only offer the minimum as far as I know. The Bulls used their tax payer midlevel salary exception on Mike Dunleavy. The Clippers used their non-tax payer midlevel exception on Darren Collison and Matt Barnes and do not have their Bi-Annual Exception this season because they used it to sign Grant Hill last year.

The Rockets can offer the room midlevel exception, worth $2.652M/yr for up to 2 years.

Camby actually makes a decent backup for Dwight.

I'm guessing Asik is a goner.

Tnx, so we can offer the most money, the city he already lives, a potential chmpionship but very limited playing time. We make the most sense, but Spears said a source expects these 3 to be after him. Could be that we're not interested..

My guess is that Spear's source is correct anf that Houston will be after him. Feigen writer earlier that HOU was expected to save their room midlevel exception for a player "who gets bought out or to fill a need that may arise." Seems Camby fits both these descriptions. He got bought out and the team may have a future need at backup C if an Asik deal is struck (which may or may not happen anytime soon).

Assuming Camby isn't completely washed up, he'd be a perfect candidate to use the $2.65M on. You can find decent options at lower prices in other positions, but it is really hard to find centers who are not total stiffs.

Fair enough, Feigen feels otherwise in his article on Camby being bought out:

Still, haven't we established already that Greg Smith is not a center?? We only have Asik and Howard and based on the history of our centers recently, it's not a luxury to have 3 real 7 footers!!

@Jonathan_Feigen: Camby wanted to finish his career in his adopted home town. Went back to NY in sign-and-trade when Rockets went with all kids.

Jonathan didn't write that... at least it's not credited to him, and if he wrote it, it would be. It looks more like a general article recapping the situation.

the question is if we do sign camby what can we get for greg smith? may be a bad second rounder?

same thing goes for if we are able to get mike miller, who do we drop? or is there any trade value?

I dont get the interest in camby since we have Asik. Only thing that would make sense to me is Morey has found a buyer for Asik and we have a trade planned "if" we get camby to sign. Otherwise I dont see a point and having D12, Asik, and Camby. As for Miller, I really hope he comes to Houston.

"The Rockets have interest in amnesty buyouts Mike Miller and Marcus Camby, a source tells Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
Miller and Camby were bought out by the Heat and Raptors, respectively. With the Rockets in win-now mode, both players make sense as depth players to help fill out the bench and contribute in limited minutes. Miller is reportedly also drawing interest from the Grizzlies and Thunder. "

According to Feigen's twitter we're only offering veteran minimum, please tell me that is not true. He's definitely worth that room exception!!

I'd love to have both, but if I had to choose one, it'd probably be Mike Miller. As long as Asik is on this roster, I have no qualms about the center position. Miller however could be somebody that we can call upon in the playoffs.

If we wanted Mike Miller, why did we already sign so many wing players?? Makes no sense..

Having Camby on team would give Rockets flexibility to trade Asik at trade deadline.

Miller serves more of a need and when he gets hot, he gets really hot. Mike gives us more options to surround Dawight and Harden, the more shooters the better. I also like Mikes hustle and rebounding. If you have watched Miami play the last 2 years, you know it never hurts to have more 3pt shooters.

As long as we keep Asik and have Greg Smith, Camby seems redundant.
