if McHale doesn't pan out this season, Stan Van Gundy be the obvious candidate to coach this team.

Clearly he knows how to coach Dwight, and he knows how to get his team to buy into a defensive philosophy.

I think McHale will be good enough.

So you want to bring in a coach that already has had conflict with DH - who in fact said on TV that he's trying to get me fired!

Man, two weeks from getting Dwight, still months from the start of the season and we're talking about getting a new coach?

    Jumping the gun much?

Howard has stated many times he looks forward to working with McHale. Makes little since to now spit in his face.

I am begging for the OP to clarify that this is a (unfunny) joke.

I think McHale will do good this season. I only see him getting criticized by lin fans if he doesn't live up to their expectations.

He did a phenomenal job by taking the youngest team in the league almost to the second round of the playoffs.

Are you forgetting Dwight Howard doesn't like Stan Van Gundy? If with Kevin Mchale doesn't turn out good. Phil Jackson or someone else will be Morey's target.

I think there were reports that they had made up, and are friends now.

SVG will be a lateral hire, D12 would never agree to it. Once again he would be portrayed as a coach killer and flip-flopping primadonna

Yeah same. It's possible, so don't lose hope yet.

Hey, maybe we should hire Bill Simmons to be GM if Daryl Morey doesn't work out this season.

I think Darnell Mohray should pull a Pat Riley and take over coaching duties

Kobe chased Phil off in 04 and was later happy to get him back when he couldn't win without him. Apparently JVG and D12 made up so a reunion is possible if McHale doesn't work out for whatever reason.
