Boston marathon bomber. Yikes. Though it appears to be an article tracking his fall, we shouldn't be giving figures like that the cover of magazines like that it seems.

Name one person on the last 12 issues of Rolling Stone. You can't huh? Now you can. Stupid or not... they're selling magazines.

    Exactly!

People on social media are pissed off about this. Which means they're talking about RS... Which means RS wins.

Would you encourage your daughter to release a sex tape for exposure, so she can also win?

Cheap ppl see the stupidest things as winning.

I also wouldn't encourage her to post about her fake sex life on a basketball forum.

That's what I meant! It is just sad to me. I know that people are going to consider getting something when it has that kind of shock value, but why not rely on the writer's value add instead of that shock? The Boston Marathon Bombing is a big deal, and people are going to want to know about this kid. The last thing you want to do, though, is make him look like a pop culture icon. Terrible move. I have never been a big purchaser of Rolling Stone magazine unless I was flying, but this is something that leaves a bad taste in your mouth for a while.

You would if it made you money. Help you upgrade your camry to an Audi.

But for free? Nah, you don't have the incentive.

I never said I would do what RS did. I never even said I agree with it. What I said was people b****ing about this online is a big win for RS. They're a business ya know?

Don't take it personally, but that's my point. If you feel you have a social responsibility, why shouldn't RS? You can rob old ladies if you want a quick 1k, but you don't. There's a line and with power, given the context of the magazine and kids it targets, comes responsibility.

I understand what you're saying. But, unfortunately you can't really expect businesses, especially a dying business (magazines) to act ethically sometimes. But, I definitely understand the outrage by others.

Thankfully, with RS writers, we can assume the article will be top-notch.

This is an interesting read from Esquire.
