Must avoid Greg Smith at center. I'd like to have Camby back. Great guy, nice insurance if Howard or Asik were to get hurt and depending on how much game Camby has left he could fill the backup center void when Asik gets traded.
It makes perfect sense because it keeps the Rockets options open. It allows the Rockets to be more prepared if and when they trade Asik. The only question is how much Camby cares about playing time. If he's fine with just being DNP-CD almost every game, then this is a pretty sweet gig. Don't have to do much. Mainly provide veteran presence and earn an nifty paycheck. If it truly does come down to Rockets, Clippers, and Bulls, he's almost certainly signing with us. Our veteran minimum is better since there are no state income taxes. Plus he's home here.
If the Rockets are truly interested in Camby, then I'm a little surprised. It would also make me think that they are indeed looking to move Asik. It makes no sense to get Camby with Dwight, Asik, and Smith on the roster in my opinion. Now, I did like Camby when he was here a couple of years ago, and if Camby still wants to play, I think he would be interested to play for the Rockets. But, it just doesn't seem like he has much left at this point. If the Rockets really do want to trade Asik, I can see the Rockets being comfortable with Dwight, Camby and Smith.
