No, this kid got killed for assaulting someone enough to make that person fear for their life. That's how the law reads. People who decide to settle things with their fist need to know this could happen to them. The BS is coming from people who think similar to you.
The current laws, as constructed, make no sense if people like GZ feel like they should be able to pursue anybody they feel like doing. Fresh pursuits without warrants should be carried out by law enforcement officers for a reason---so this kind of s**t won't happen. You can't even say this was a fresh pursuit since TM had not been seen to commit a crime. Work within the legal system, to punish and discourage all those who would work outside it.
I'm just offering evidence to those crying over a fair verdict that it's not fair to act like Trayvon was some innocent angel who played no role in what happened to him that night. There was a slim jim found in the bushes he was alledgedly hiding in or near. Trayvon was found with a burglary tool and women's jewelry on him while at school that he wouldn't admit where he got . Zimmerman accused him of possibly casing houses and of being on drugs. Guess what, he was on drugs. Those who keep saying that they don't know what to tell their kids... Try telling them the entire story not some made up version that got destroyed in court. As a parent, you should be worried about strangers interacting with your child and of their behavior. Based on all that happened here, I'd tell my sons If you think someone is following you. Avoid them, call the police if you have a phone and if you don't head for the nearest place that could be a safe haven for you. DO NOT CONFRONT THAT PERSON If you strike someone, you can go to jail, get hurt or be killed.
There was trial in the court of public opinion, and in that trial anything goes. The Crumptards started this and they have to accept the push back.
The wasn't a car chase where GZ was pursuing TM at a 100 mph. THERE IS NO LAW AGAINST FOLLOWING SOMEONE. GZ had a perfect right to walk in his own community (as did Martin).
My thoughts exactly. I feel blessed not to know quite a few of the "men" in this thread. Likewise, I feel incredibly sorry for the people that actually know and have to interact with these same "men" in their daily lives.
as per usual, your side devolves into insults when you can't argue based on fact and reason. just admit it -- you don't have the facts on your side, only emotions. We all agree it was a tragedy.
um, actually there are laws against people following someone---stalking laws. But I don't want to get into that whole shabang. Let's just say that given the facts of the case---GZ was clearly following TM even though officers told him to stand down---this kind of behavior should be curtailed as best as possible.
Whether he had weed in his system is irrelevant. His record at school is irrelevant. You know why? HE'S NOT THE ONE ON TRIAL!! The kid was clearly not casing houses, you can make up whatever wild speculation you want, but that's just as wild as saying GZ is a racist. The only thing that TM did wrong was to attack GZ it appears, and that's a big wrong, and he paid for it with his life. Now, I agree I find it strange all these people who are furious about this case but ignore the fact that TM was on top of GZ striking him. It does boggle the mind. But the rest of what is being said is unnecessary.
If you think it's manly to make this personal.... Same to people who deal with you since you lack basic comprehension skills and rely on emotion instead of logic.
Put away all the legal stuff for a second. gwayneco - let's try to exercise some common sense unlike what Zimmerman did on that night. You have a son or daughter. Would you advise them to approach a potential threat (i.e. robber) or would you rather have them call the cops and wait for the real men in uniform to do their job?
Why don't they stop being lazy and just a camera crew to the location instead of this terrible chopper shot.
Yes, it's amazing how people jumped to conclusions when this story first emerged. Looking back at the beginning of this thread is illuminating. After Tawana Brawley, Duke lacrosse, and Henry Louis Gates, you would think folks would learn to stop jumping to conclusions, but when the narrative fits their racialist agenda they jump right in.
His actions that night were on trial. If others want to paint him as this squeaky clean 12 year old they are the ones who put his character in the forefront. How can you say he was clearly not casing houses? He also had Lean in his system and the effects of that and MJ could be why GZ thought he looked suspicious. It's not really just his school record. The kid was already in a lot of trouble and if you look at the contents of his phone, he had ZERO respect for his parents. If he's not worried about respecting them or the folks at school, then what do you think he's going to do when he encounters a creepy ass cracker who he finds annoying. There were texts that day where Rachel Jeantel insinuated he was a thug and should concern himself with getting one planted in his chest.
