Do you think the new Kanye album's anti-materialistic message inspired the protestors entering a Walmart?

NWA was a thing that will always have it's moment in time because they were very much just talking about how it was to live in L.A at the time and be black. With all the gang and police violence that went on during the time, it was easy to promote that.

Nowadays rap is so spread out, it's global. There is negative rap, there are japanese rapper, jewish rappers, german rappers etc etc...it's just another form of music. It can be used to put out a negative message or a positive message. While I do agree there does seem to be this push for the execs to get the bad stuff out there because that sells, I don't think it has a big impact on black community. I think parenting is and always will be the biggest thing.

But I guess this is another topic for another thread, I just don't like blaming things too much on movies, music, or videogames.

Or in my case, a Fignewton or Uncle Tom.

That said BigTexxx, it might do your reputation some good if you didn't engage in these racial debates so much. You're trying to prove a point to people who, for the most part, have their minds made up and can only influence people so much. As a matter of fact, we generally all have our minds made up before entering a debate (myself included) and only the most open minded and rational will come close to changing their minds.

So just lessen how much you talk about this type of stuff.

You keep saying that, but it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. If Martin initiated the attack, he was aggressor. Period. End of discussion.

This silly bit about "putting himself in that position" is essentially like saying a rape victim was "asking for it" because of what she was wearing or because she was supposedly in a place she should not have been

So you are saying Trayvon had to do what he did to Zimmerman because Zimmerman followed him?

Why? They're probably hoping they will start killing each other.

    Awesome analogy.

    That's not an appropriate analogy.

Any human being walking alone on a dark night who has been followed multiple times over a short period of time by a strange late 20's/early 30's 200pound man is absolutely justified in fearing for his/her safety. Being followed by a stranger on a dark night is often a precursor to an attempted crime like an assault, robbery or rape. This particularly holds true when you can see the person who is following you is not a police officer and said person has not identified themself or given you any indication as to why they are following you. You are basically being harassed by this person and it's not at all crazy to consider the possibility as you are being followed that you may have to defend yourself.

A female who is dressed in skimpy attire can not logically or rationally be considered a threat to your safety. It would be absolutely asinine to consider the possibility a female dressed like a slut is a signal to you that you may have to defend yourself.

Also though, the whole 30 seconds to get home stuff is some crap.

If someone is following you...and you know someone is following you...the last thing you are going to do is go home and show them where you and your family live. That's just not good logic, someone is following me I better go home and show them where I live!

So If Trayvon KNEW he was being followed, it would make sense to go every where but home.

This is why you either circle the block, call the police or ask the stranger why he's tailing you (least likely and dumbest option). It doesn't give you the right to attack.

We don't know if Trayvon attacked Zimmerman, no one knows who attacked first. Even the juror that spoke to Anderson said that no one knew what really happened. The reason Zimmerman is not guilty is because they couldn't prove that he was the one that initiated the fight. That doesn't mean that everything he said is what happened, no way that is true. There are always two sides to a story, always. Of course Zimmerman's account is he was attacked, if he says anything else he's going to prison for murder.

It seems circling the block could have been what Trayvon was doing. Calling the police...while this is what a adult would do, youths especially black youths are not very eager to call the cops.

But it's a possibility certainly that Trayvon was in no rush to get home because he knew someone was following him and thus the last thing he'd want to do was show that person where he lived.

I'm just putting it out there to those folks who think the big piece of evidence is that Trayvon should have been home in 30 seconds after knowing he was being followed. That's the last thing a person does if they are being followed.
