Would it be a slap in the face to trade Parsons to land that 3rd star?

I doubt Houston seriously considers trading Parsons for a lower tiered star - he's more valuable to Houston because he is on such a cheap contract and the Rockets can load up around him via FA or by dangling other more market value guys (like Lin & Asik) and then go over cap room to resign him at the end of his current contract.

Parsons is only getting traded if Houston is offered a real game changing player in his prime or entering it or possibly a high lotto pick or picks so they can reload on quality young players on cheap contracts.

This team already has a punchers chance at a title and they still have room to add more specialists. Fact is Chandler has more value on Houston that what he is likely worth anywhere else in the league. No slap in Dwight's face because it won't happen and if it does, it will likely be for someone who makes Houston a whole lot better.

I wouldn't put it past Morey to be open to any discussion if it lands us a better player and that's as it should be. Until you have the best players/team, everything is up for discussion. At this stage of the game, anyone not named Lebron James should be open for trade.

Fagan just added a lot of zeros to his bank account after this Dwight deal. I'm sure to the average NBA agent - a GM is only as good as the last deal they signed with one of your clients in which case, Morey should be golden.

He wouldn't be tossed in to make the salaries match, he'd be tossed in to make the talent match.

And it depends on the star.

unless you're an insider, you can't guarantee this position. it's a business in winning. you think morey and less care more about feelings or a championship.

Parsons value is high for as long as he is still on his current contract. Once he signs his next one, he become an ordinary asset.

No one can blame him if he wants to get paid. It will be his first big contract. He's absolutely earned it.

Rockets will be in a serious dilema; what is a fair for Parsons and Rockets?

To be fair to Parsons, Morey should not pick up Parsons option next year. Free him from his current contract in good faith. Let the market determine his worth, and if another team overvalue his talent, Rockets can decide not to match it.

To build a championship team, the main pieces HAVE to play above their contract values; 2 (or 3) superstars on max and key role players on below market contracts. Bad contracts will absolutely kill a team's cap and flexibility.

Knowing how focused Morey is on building a championship team, don't be surprised if Parsons isn't here after next season.

Less like a slap in his face. More like a kick in his nuts.

Parsons' a bit overrated on this board- any GM worth his salt would pull the trigger for a 3rd star.

Parsons should be untouchable, in my opinion, certainly for this year. I want to see how he develops. Can he continue to improve? I think he will, and considering how good he is now, why on earth would we trade him? For "another star?" Well maybe Parsons will end up being an All Star himself. It would be the pity of the world if Morey moved him for a star, if that happened. How many "stars" do we need? How many can we afford? Are we supposed to follow the Heat's playbook in order to win a championship? Excuse me, but bull ****. It's foolish to try, in my opinion. Problem number one is that we don't have James. They do. So we should have our own model, and let other wannabe contenders attempt to copy the Miami. Attempt and fail.

Ever since Miami got the best player in the league, adding him to one of the best shooting guards, and added an All Star 4 as well, I keep hearing that that's what's needed to compete with them. Again, I say that bull ****. We have the best center in the league. We currently have the best backup center in the league by a mile. How is Miami going to matchup with them? Trot out a converted 4, Bosh? What is he supposed to do? Be a "stretch 5?" Howard and Asik would simply wreck him inside. What's Miami going to do? Flail around inside by committee, while Howard/Asik vacuum up rebounds and dare them to score inside? We have a top 3 shooting guard, who may take the mantle of best shooting guard by the end of this season. Wade is far closer to the end of his prime, than the middle, or the beginning, which is where Harden is, and Wade is increasingly finding it difficult to stay healthy. He's a great player, no question, but I'd rather have James Harden, thank you very much. Their point guards are nothing special. I'd rather have ours. The main position we're uncertain about is at power forward. Do we really need an All Star there? I think not. Atlanta signed Milsap for 2 years, at $9 million a year. With Howard, Harden, Parsons, and the rest of our young, talented team, we're going to be able to fill the 4 spot with someone good if one of our young guys doesn't pan out, because good vets are going to want to play on the Rockets.

A large part of winning is matchups. In my opinion, if we were to make it to the Finals, Miami would be worried as hell about matching up with us. And I sort of like that idea. So let's keep Parsons. Let's keep this team together this season and see what they can do. Winning does amazing things. It brings a smile to your face. It soothes bruised egos. And who knows... maybe it gets you out of the Western Conference this year with who we have. So why don't we find out?

Parsons seems like one of those guys that just stays with one team for his entire career, doesn't put up exceptional numbers but does enough to help the team win.

Parsons is key to attracting stars to Houston. You trade Parsons, stars flock to his new team. You only slap yourself in the face.

Totally joking, but I think it'd be funny if they traded Asik/Parson/Lin for Kobe. Would be interesting to see DH's facial expression.

I prefer to keep him. I think the plan is to keep him, and give him his payday w/ Bird rights when due.

As for us not having the assets that other teams want for their stars (Love, Aldridge), that's when you call up the 3rd and 4th teams and get them involved...

Why does it matter? They are tangible assets. Go Morey!

Parson should not even be considered being traded. He is only getting better and he's only 24 years old. Not even in his prime yet.
