I'm so happy for World Peace! I wanted him back on the Rockets just for post game interviews. Now the whole world gets to see and hear it! Definitely the second best off season signing this year so far!
Lakers get a setoff of half the difference of the Knicks 1.6M and the min for a 1 year vet salary 778K or about 450K. MWP will make about 8.85M by clearing waivers.
He's looking kinda old and slow. I guess the Knicks have to try something, and their options are limited.
More games against indiana and detroit now. Along with chicago his old stomping grounds. Metta blended well in the south and west coast, but hes still east coast essence. This might even boost him just a tad maybe half the season from suck to mediocre.
he said the money didn't matter to him. he said he would have signed a contract for a dollar if it was to play for the Knicks. he would have been paid regardless. good for him.
Makes sense. I've always viewed this NY team as the second coming of that Allen Iverson Sixers team that made the Finals (one mega scorer + a bunch of tough defensive players). Artest fits the mold.
Metta Name Change? Many Knicks fans have wondered if Metta World Peace will go back to his original name -- Ron Artest -- now that he's back in New York. It looks like those fans may get their wish. World Peace said in a with ClevverNews that he plans to change his name this season, though not legally. "We are going to do do a name change, but I can't tell you what it is," World Peace told an interviewer with ClevverNews. World Peace added that he did not want to go through the process of changing his name legally again until he retires. "That's too much work," he said. So that means he will have "World Peace" on the back of his Knicks jersey this season, but may answer to another name. The New Yorker formerly known as Ron Artest legally changed his name to Metta World Peace in September 2011. He said at the time that he wanted to "inspire and bring youth together all around the world."

This is completely false, DD. You know it, too. Just because his numbers aren't always noticeable on a stat sheet doesn't mean he "sucks." Did you ever play ball? He's adapted to many different roles over his years in the NBA, from a primary option to a non-option on offense. He plays his heart out, even when he was with us.
