I see people picking Paul in the greatest players thread and wanted to see how prevalent that thought was. Magic could play 5 positions won 5 championships in the 80's. CP3 had one crazy statistical year. I don't see how it is even close.
I'm old enough to have seen Magic play and for me anyhow there is no comparison.... ....... ....... .......
I voted paul because it isnt even close, and you made it public. The reason people chose paul in that thread is because he gives you better spacing.
There is a vast chasm between Magic and CP3. Anyone choosing CP3 isn't old enough to have seen Magic play.
Dude, Paul is barely a top 5 point guard. There's no way he's beating Oscar or Frazier, much less Magic.
CP3 is the better player. Magic won more championships. Morey chose CP3 over Magic for his all-time team just fyi.
magic's comeback in like 30 games at pf was more exciting than anything paul has to offer. (i just fell down again, give me 2 shots. now let me grab your package)
Chris Paul piles up assists despite playing for much, much slower-paced teams. He had more than one tremendous statistical year. I'd pick Magic, but Paul's career isn't over and there's a legitimate argument to be made. I'd take him over Stockton.
Morey chose Chris Paul over Magic for his alltime team, and he knows a lot more about basketball than you do.
Exactly this. When I hear people talking about old greats - Bob Cousy for example - I have no real opinion as it was before my time. So I can understand some young whippersnapper (<30 years old) thinking CP3 is on Magic's level. But for those of us who saw him play that's a laughable concept.
His career isn't over so I don't think anyone should make any case before then since they are so different and could do different things. To say it CAN'T even be close though is laughable.
