He is overrated based on how he is talked about around these parts. He isn't a star player, but rather a role player. Since when is it a problem to have a role player as a starter?

"My guy", Marcus Morris, is a member of the Phoenix Suns the last I checked. And if you still think he is the next all star, I have some swampland in Florida to sell you.

Is it fair to say this guy gets better looking by the year just like his game? Sick haircut too.

Such an erroneous statement based on choice stats, are you serious?

According to CBS's player ranker ( based on overall stats) CP is the 9th best ranked SF in the league.

Heres another stat aggregator that has him ranked 12 in terms of forwards and 32 overall in the league.

Oh and for good measure here are some more rankings based on SF averages and totals where chandler is 9th adn 7th respectively.

Let me reiterate, while chandler is no way a "star" player at this point he is getting there. Putting him in the same category as role players that have "peaked" is an indicator that A. You are trolling or B. You are trolling.

"Average" Players dont put up 16 points a game on 48% shooting.

Not sure how one can overrate arguably a top 15 SF who is very young and woefully underpaid in addition to being an incredibly complete player. Can he become a star? Maybe, maybe not. Only time can tell, but I feel pretty confident as he has great work ethics and has always improved year after year, first in college and now in the NBA. He also seems to have a very friendly and disarming personality that just makes other people want to be his friends. I am sure being one of the better looking players in the NBA only helps him.

That rating system is good enough for an NBA team to hire its creator.

It is true that bigmen in general are rated highly by it, ie Verajao, Birman, Amir, Nene etc. This is because the system actually attempts to measure a players impact on winning, and bigmen in general simply affect winning more due to their impact on defense. This is also why most of the top players in the league according to RAPM are bigmen.

Mike Conley and Millsap are two of the most underrated players in the NBA, while Kobe and Carmelo are two of the most overrated. Conley and Millsap both affect all aspects of the game both defensively and offensively, true two-way players. Meanwhile, Kobe and Carmelo have 1 skillset, creating a shot for themselves. Which, while useful especially late game, during the course of 48 minutes is, overrated.

Deron Williams has historically been a much better player if you simply looked back at his past RAPM ratings. However, ever since he got to Brooklyn, he became one of the worst defenders at his position which is what dragged his rating down. Bill Simmons even called him out last year as one of the most overpaid players, before Williams improved in the second half of the season.

Lol @ overrated underrated, what is this noise? Chandler Parsons is

    A) A HOUSTON ROCKET

    B) Going to get PAID (No less then 10 mill, no more then 15, unless something drastic happens)

    C) Was the main conduit in the decision for D12 to join the Houston Rockets.

hopefully this will end the mentally challenged discussion why hes overrated

Just caught it on DVR. All I kept thinking about is how this guy...

...is now on First Take talking about how him and two of the best players in the world are chasing a championship. It's fun to watch him grow as an NBA player.

I am as serious as one can be after being refuted by the mighty CBS player ranker and EFF. What makes yours factual and mine erroneous?

    Don't be so sure.

    Michael Beasley 2010-2011 19 points 45% shooting

    Jeff Green 2008-2009 16.5 points 45% shooting

    Demar Deorzan 2010-2011 17.2 points 47% shooting

    OJ Mayo 2012-2013 15.2 points 45% shooting

    Aaron Afflalo 2011-2012 15.2 points 47% shooting

None of these ever were, nor ever became anything more than average players. In fact they are all below average.

Are you really telling me the fact that Parsons shoots 1-3% better from the field makes him that much different?

I'll answer that: Of course not. The reason Parsons is different is due to his superior impact on winning, as shown through RAPM. The similarities in PPG and FG% mean absolutely nothing, and certainly not an indicative measure for the quality of players.

Chandler Parsons is extremely overrated here.

Then again, this is a Rockets fan forum.

Plenty of our players are underrated on a Rockets fan forum.

Delfino was probably the most underrated last year and a big loss for us in the offseason. Before he injured his elbow, he was probably our 3rd or 4th best player.

Casspi is a guy I think fans are underrating right now and could fill in the Delfino role nicely next year.

I think every Rocket fan is excited about Dwight. About adding that second allstar. Some even see him as the franchise player. Believe it or not, that is still underrating him. When absolutely healthy, Dwight is the second best player in the entire league.

    Oh, and that Asian guy.

Kinda curious what Delfinos stats were after his elbow injury...I never really took that into account. Figured he was fine after a couple weeks...

Totally clutch. Jeremy did a great job getting the ball to him, as well.

If all those guys listed are below average players, then the Rockets only have 3 players that are average or better.

I don't see the Rockets or other folks paying 10+ mill for Parsons. 7 to 9 mil is where I see him going. The type of money your talking about are the 1st or 2nd options on teams and for the Rockets, he'll third option at the highest.
