There's only about a handful of superstars by my definition. And LMA isn't one. He's an All-Star similar to Bosh. He's also a franchise player similar to how Bosh was for Toronto. I think Love and LMA are at least a notch above guys like Josh Smith, Kenneth Faried, Blake Griffin, etc. I think both of them have greater skill offensively than those guys do. Defensively it's a little more complex. Love is the best rebounder of the bunch. That's fine if you don't believe he is the best PF. A lot of others, including myself do, however. And he certainly has a case for being the best. Regardless of if he's not a superstar, he's a star. He would create a big 3 similar to what Miami has or what Boston had with 3 of the top players at their position. I don't think he necessarily has to be a perfect fit to justify how much money he gets. You design a game plan around your best players and make it work.

If we got LMA and paid Parsons... draft picks wouldn't do us any good over the next couple years anyway... DM would be plugging in Dleague and undrafteds at min to fill out roster... same of the euros.... As for the cash... it's Les's money - who cares. lol Don't overvalue midlevel talent in the pursuit of top talent... The addition of LMA would have us setup for a dynasty for the the next half dozen years, with retention of our remaining players... ALL IN!
Asik to Portland, Lin to Toronto Fields and Novak to Portland Aldridge to Houston Maybe throw in a second round to Portland to make it sweeter.
i'm all about getting LMA, but who else would we give up besides Asik? I don't think they're willing to take Lin's contract, so what would we have to give them? Chandler? Nah. If we did asik + tjones/dmo + 2 picks, would that work? it's obvious lma wants out, so i don't know if portland will need something extravagant in return..
Please share with us what your smoking. I went to UT and I've watched him all of his career and I like him but please. In the words of Yoda, "a bit soft he is". I've also heard people say they like Love over Dwight, again please. You guys that think this need to start cheering for European club team because you obviously don't know realize how important defense actually is in the NBA.
There is only one ball - we do not need an all-star at every spot on the floor it will not work. We are fine with Jones and D-Mo of the bench. Asik or player like Asik is a must for now till Howard shows he is not a headcase.
If we are gonna pull this off we need to be patient. Ideally, Tjones steps up this season and plays very very well. A package of jones, asik, and draft picks would be one of the best offers they would get. Also maybe we could Robin Lopez in a trade like this to have some sort of backup center.
If TJ and D-Mo take big steps forward, what do we need LMA for...? If Howard is worth that $22 million a year, that's a championship contending frontcourt.
I think it is interesting on top of all the factors listed in the article clutch says that Aldridge WANTS to be here. If you look at the melo situation…plus us having the pieces to get a deal done. Aldridge to Houston seems like it is inevitable at this point.
from JR clutch from podcast: From what I had been told, the Rockets believed at one point they were going to get a deal done for LaMarcus Aldridge with Portland. ... How close, I don't know. ... From what I understand, Aldridge wants to be here. That's what he's been saying since the all-star break, that he wants to be on the Rockets. ... All I know for sure is Asik would be in there. I didn't hear anything about Lin for sure. ... I can guarantee you, if they were to work a deal for Aldridge, you can kiss those draft picks goodbye. Last edited by J.R.; Today at 09:57 AM. This. There is no point to getting LMA because what will he do with dwight geting boards and wantng to score in the post? Shoot mid range? If thats all hes gonna do lets just get marcus morris back. Look how badly LMa fit in the blazers when oden played...that would be our team again. Plus, it would mean we cant keep parsons or any depth...things we need more than LMA
Novak would be amazing for us, too bad he makes too much for a 3pt specialist. An elite one, but still just a 3pt specialist.
Thinking more about it. Asik is going to go no matter what. So it's really Parsons for LMA I love Parsons but I would do that trade any day of the week. Asik, Parsons, Smith for LaMarcus Aldridge. Portland would definitely bite on that and I don't think other teams could beat us with a better offer.
hey gais? D12 wants CP25 to stay with us. besides that, his contract is way too highly valued for that to happen. you move Asik and/or Lin and the other PFs if you need to. but you're not trading CP25. i want LMA just as bad as you guys, tho.
I don't really agree or see your logic that Asik is gone no matter what. He is here for at least two more years unless the ROCKETS decide otherwise. If we have one a championship or two during that time, who is to say that he wouldn't want to sign here again if he is winning, we can pay him and he is still getting 25 to 30 minutes a game? What better situation could he go to just to start and get maybe another 5 minutes a game? Also, Parson for LMA aint gonna happen. First, we won't get rid of Parsons anytime soon after he helped recruit DH12 so much. Second, Portland has Batum and won't have a need to start Parsons who is definitely not a bench players. Third, adding another one, there is NO way that LMA makes up on our team what we would lose in a game from Asik, Parsons and Smith, so if we lose all of that, I don't see it as an upgrade. I would much rather work a deal around Asik, one of TJones or DMo and draft picks if we were going to trade for him. Parsons out of the question, Lin only if we can't make the salaries work any other way and he is used to bring in a 3rd team.
