Baby you wanna advertise the thug life, you best be prepared to live it.

The verdict, the law, wasn't based on race. It was based on the lack of solid evidence. There never really was a clear cut case.

Zimmerman may have been suspicious because of race. Walking around foreign neighborhoods with a hoody covering your face, you're asking for trouble. But Travyon died because of lax gun control and a trigger happy culture.

Rise above the hate my friend.

This is a false statement. Zimmerman indeed didn't initially volunteer to the Dispatcher that Martin was black.

But he clearly knew Martin was black because when the dispatcher asked him what race he was he immediately said "He looks black". He didn't say "I don't know what race he is".

He knew Martin was black at the time he made the phone call. That doesn't mean he made the call because he was black, but it's not true to say he didn't know the race when he made the call.

When you look at how Trayvon was living his life then you can see it wasn't "profiling" it was just reality. Trayvon was into drugs and fighting. He didn't deserve to die, but he wasn't a saint. He was committing felony assault when he got shot. I'd love to hear some positive things about Trayvon, but all I seem to keep finding are things that show a kid quickly going down the wrong path in life.

George Zimmerman is a Spanish speaking American from a Peruvian mother (I think her grandmother was part black if you want to get really into it) and a white American father. He is a registered Democrat that has regularly worked with blacks. He certainly had some legal issues in his past as well, but there has never been any indication of him ever being a racist. I think you will be hard pressed to show Zimmerman or his family are racist. I'd be very open to seeing anything.

Yeah, nothing of anything makes sense.

What if's. We don't know. It is what it is.

You won't get anything except bitterness and uncertainty from debating this.

Just view life with a big heart and move on. Malcolm X didn't do anything for the black race with all his hate when he was with the nation of Islam. It was only after he left the petty world and cooperated did he really make a change. MLK, Gandhi, Motown, Marvin Gaye, etc. helped the situation with a message of soul.

This is thuggish behavior. I'm also against wearing Burkha's in banks.

A 30 second viewing of the 7-eleven video that shows Trayvon Martin purchasing his syzzurp ingredients (Skittles and watermelon juice -- not iced tea) shows him staggering around the store dazed and confused. He goes to leave, then doubles back, then spins around -- the guy looks totally drugged up. George Zimmerman sees a totally drugged up youth walking around in a disoriented manner between condos and he rightly calls the police. Race had nothing to do with it. Nothing. All of the investigations by the FBI, local police, and the original prosecutor confirmed that. All of the forensic evidence and honest witness testimony supports Zimmerman's version of the night. The Trayvon supporters bought the media lies, but now won't correct themselves after the facts have come out in court. NBC is being sued for their false editing and depiction of Trayvon as a racist. Those were deceptive edits and intended to deceive society's most gullible. Unfortunately, it worked. But now that the facts are out, it's clear that Trayvon was armed -- with nose-breaking fists and a sidewalk -- and that he was on drugs -- and that he did attack and physically beat Zimmerman. The case should have never been brought -- the evidence was overwhelming in Zimmerman's favor.

How can the Trayvon supporters not reassess their position after their original interpretation has been conclusively proven false? That's what I don't understand. It's just willful ignorance.

Intriguing sign I saw during my drive through Harlem (as a child) -

You bring the hood to us, and we gon bring the hood to you.

    So simple, yet so rite.

Race has nothing to do with it, unless you want to blame black culture for causing this death.

The NAACP community needs to promote a culture not glorifying gun violence and selling drugs. They need to focus in house, on fathers to not running away, so young black women aren't attracted to murderers and aggressive thugs. Of course, their instant reaction is to bond over their bitter hatred of George Zimmerman, who they have nothing on.

It seems like that's what they prefer to do, instead of compromise and meet half way.

This is eerily similar to Islamic scholars blaming the West for all their problems, instead of looking in house and asking how they can change.

    It's kind of mentally lazy.

I feel sorry for the kid that got killed, but I can see how the legal outcome came about. I don't think people should be up in arms about it.

    Zimmerman:

We’ve had some break-ins in my neighborhood and there’s a real suspicious guy. It’s Retreat View Circle. The best address I can give you is 111 Retreat View Circle.

This guy looks like he’s up to no good or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around looking about. [00:25]

    911 dispatcher:

OK, is he White, Black, or Hispanic?

    Zimmerman:

    He looks black.
    ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Not sure what you are disputing here. Zimmerman called to report a suspicious guy and Zimmerman didn't mention a racial "profile" until he was asked. That's what we both have asserted here.

Just an unfortunate circumstance and it's sad and tragic to lose a child over something like this. Could someone with info tell me has there been a lot of crime in Zimmerman's area? The town that he lived in, is it infested with crime?

As a gotdammed American we have the right to defend ourselves. That's what my forefathers died for.

Hell yes they do. And I bet it is sweet.

Yes, the the DOJ can prosecute him for whatever crime they want up to and including murder. Read the case law.

After reflecting over the weekend I have some final thoughts.

    1) I think that the majority of the time, answering a fist with a gun should be unacceptable. Of course there are factors involved, like who starts the fight and the size and capability of those involved, but in this case, I think a dangerous precedent has been set.

    2) While I think Zimmerman made a mistake, the majority of the anger and blame here should be directed at the Sanford Police Department for their inept response and handling of the incident and subsequent investigation. Anyone who thinks the verdict excuses the failures of the Sanford PD is using poor logic that confuses causes and effect.

    3) The legislature is also heavily to blame for enacting poorly thought out laws that allowed a situation like this to take place. See my post here. In the same vein of blaming the state, despite the fact they were fighting an uphill battle, the prosecution was pretty terrible in their own right.

It's a sad situation that never should have come to pass. Zimmerman isn't a cold blooded killer, he's just, at worst, a coward or an idiot who made a deadly mistake. Putting him behind bars wouldn't solve a damn thing. This is just the result of a laundry list of longstanding problems this country has.
