I was asked to grab a hoodie and meet at tsu to protest. I didn't have a hoodie so I asked if I could wear a windbreaker... Long story short I ended up eating at frenchys.

Here's the deal though, blacks are 12 times more likely to be killed by other blacks. Indeed, if anything it is whites who should be afraid because blacks killed twice as many white folks as whites killed blacks. 2011 Data: Blacks killed by blacks 2447 Blacks killed by whites 193 Whites killed by blacks 448
Err...that's not how the double jeopardy clause of the Fifth Amendment works. As a result of the US "dual sovereign" system, federal and state jurisdictions can charge a person with the same crime without violating the 5th. Not to mention that the DOJ may not even charge Zimmerman with the same crime. Double jeopardy doesn't really do much these days, as the slightest change in pleading, evidence, etc. makes the case different in the eyes of the law.
and in everyone one of those cases, justice is served do any of those black guys who kill whites.. walk free...( all you can bring up is OJ.. over 20 years ago) there will always be crime, thats just the way of life, but america was set up so that justice would and should be served in an event any crime occurs
You are basically correct but the dual system doesn't mean that you can try someone for the exact same crime. So Zimmerman couldn't be tried for federal murder charges. You are right that Zimmerman likely won't be charged with for murder but for violating Martin's civil rights. This was what was done to the LAPD in the Rodney King beating. Just throwing in my own opinion I am hoping the DOJ doesn't step in on this. While I feel that Zimmerman should've been convicted of manslaughter I don't see how making a federal case of this improves things overall. At this point if the Martin family wants to pursue this further they should take it to civil court like Nicole Brown's family did.
It isn't about blacks killing whites, whites killing whites, blacks killing asians etc etc It isn't about that. I'm sure black parents in Chicago warn their kids to try their best not to get caught up in gang activity, not to wear this color or that, etc etc but that's a whole different topic. It's about Zimmerman close to getting away with it without seeing a court. This is closer to what it is about. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/front...-there-racial-bias-in-stand-your-ground-laws/
This is a sad but true statement. The "snitches get stitches" mentality is very harmful within black communities and needs to comes to an end. At the same time, I understand that mode of thinking as police forces haven't been trustworthy in those same communities over time. It's easy to say "well those communities should just work with law enforcement" or "police really want to help". There are preconceived notions on both sides and the big problem is how do we get these two factions to work together to help everybody. That's the hard part.
It has been truly despicable to watch the behavior of a fringe element within this country since the verdict has been read. The TM family went to great lengths by the end of the trial to make known this case was not about racism, but unfortunately it seems that many are trying to make it all out to be about racism. If you truly want justice for TM then accept the verdict and pray for his family.
It's double jeopardy in spirit because the only reason the DoJ is considering a prosecution is because GZ was acquitted. There is zero evidence race had anything to do with what GZ did. None.
You do realize civil rights is a group of rights that contain a pretty broad spectrum of freedoms that include WAY more than just race, right?
+1 The prosecution put on their best case and explicitly stated it isn't about race and now the TM supporters and specifically the NAACP want the government to say it is about race at the federal level. You can't cut it both ways or change the narrative based on what is convenient for your agenda. DOJ doesnt need to be giving these people something to talk about with respect to a civil rights case. There are real civil rights cases out there to be championed but this isn't one of them.
Stand Your Ground was not a factor in this case, ffs. http://reason.com/blog/2013/07/14/sorry-the-zimmerman-case-still-has-nothi Yes, of which do you propose they charge GZ with violating?
I never said it was. I was replying to the poster who bought up statistics and said that isn't even remotely close to what black people are upset about. Black people are upset about GZ potentially getting away with it. If you remember this all started because GZ wasn't even going get arrested for it, that's what this is about. That's why I posted the link and said this is closer to what it is about when it comes to why black people are angry about this.
It's probably posted somewhere in this huge thread, but I just heard Zimmerman was a registered Democrat who voted for Obama twice. Is that true?
