I doubt the Knicks player would say that. After all, almost of them all played with Lin the season before and know exactly how explosive Lin can be at times.

Yep. from what I noticed, SAS always said good things about superstars like Melo and others. After all, you can't get inside info from them if he bash them on tv/radio.

I admit that was a very stupid thing of him to say. He is giving us some props,I hope Lin will prove him wrong.

    Deck,

You are like one of my favorite posters and I agree on many things you stated but his interview IMO was on point in my aspects. SAS has been awful for many years but his interview today was great. He brought up great points about Lin and the Rockets in general. I will say this though, I was tired of his crap when he was talking about Parsons. He gained points with me because throughout this whole Howard situation he was actually being very logical compared to his other antics.

    It's just my opinion.

I don't think this is true at all. I think SAS has conducted himself well. It's not like he said the Rockets are going to win it all, he ws truthful about it on first take. Ofcourse he is not always right and sometimes he is very very annoying, but I would say he has been smart about his whole thing even before Dwight chose to come to Houston.

I transscripted that part of the radio interview, I just see SAS as a modern day hero and myth poet like Homer.
Actually if you listen and think about it.
He was actually praising Lin in a round about way.

The bashing and doubt was from the HEAT vs Knicks game after when carmelo came back and stinked up the party. That's just him trying to relive his glory days. hahaha :p

Thanks for the kind words, and I don't have the least bit of a problem with folks liking what Smith said, or simply liking Stephen A. Smith. Hey, I liked what he said! I just haven't changed my opinion about him. Not yet. I'm open minded enough to change that opinion, given time. Maybe he'll surprise me and give the Rockets props for years now. I'd be more than OK with that, given the attention paid to the guy, for good or ill (the attention, that is!). I freely admit to a certain positive bias towards those folks in the media who consistently praise my team. :)-

I actually don't find SAS all that biased. It's no secret that he's a Knicks fan, but he is always the first one to point out their deficiencies. I've heard him criticize Melo on numerous occasions. Just got done listening to a First Take segment where he said Melo is a star, but not a "superstar."

that is the most bias and vindictive article i've ever read from a supposedly non-bias journalist. on top of that, it is factually wrong on so many levels.

and for that, i can never take SAS seriously. he has no credibility. he has sources ONLY because he let himself become the mouthpiece of so-called superstars.

People mature with age. We see that in SAS. I expect to see that in Jeremy Lin. I hope to see it in Dwight Howard.

Stephen A Smith was on point in that interview and Clyde and Elvin were amazing.

For the most part, the national media's coverage of Houston teams has been dismissive and off putting. They always refer to us as a small market, but we have fans.

I think the media (mainly just ESPN) is a talking head for the "major" markets. I used to live outside of Houston during the Yao and McGrady era. I had to wait an hour just to get a 10 sec recap about a win on sportscenter.

They really didn't like to talk about our team unless it was an injury report. During the 22 game winning streak, they didn't acknowledge it until about ten games in when Yao went down.

I remember the commercial ESPN had where fans were hanging out with friends and theirs butts started saying dumb sporting talking points. What I find funny is that they don't see that they do this with all their shows. I don't really like many analysts outside of the local market.

So when one talks out of their butt and it has a Houston aroma, forgive me if I just wait a second before it starts to smell like rotten cabbage.

oh, how adorable you Rockets fans are

one day you were like "SAS is the loudest and worst, I HATE HIM SO MUCH!"

next day, after he says something good about a Rockets player, you would instantly be like "This guy actually knows basketball"

    LOL

I love SAS, he's one of the few NBA analysts with legit inside sources and all the players respect him. The man is well educated and well spoken, he's a master of the english language.

Well said. SAS kinda reminds me of Rush Limbaugh and those extreme loud mouthed talk show radio hosts in the political media.

SAS may have sources but his "opinions" mean nothing because it is not objective.

Don't waste your time discussing his opinion! He is not a real journalist!

Stephen A Smith has always been credible. For some reason he's unfairly targeted on this site while doucebags like Bill Simmons gets praise.

    Basketball wise

    Stephen A Smith > Simmons

If you guys paid attention on first take during the NBA finals this year, Skip and everyone else were on the Spurs bandwagon. When they were in San Antonio and SA had that 3-2 lead and Sean Elliott was on there basically saying the series was over, SAS was the only one who spoke the truth. Sean Elliott and Skip both said the Spurs could finish off the Heat even WITHOUT Tony Parker and SAS told them they were both crazy.
