Did you steal that image from Daryl Morey's iPad presentation to Dwight Howard?

I hope we can keep Asik. I'd like to see the new Twin Towers in action first!

If it doesn't live up to expectations, then maybe...

Asik to me seems like a guy who should be cerebral. Assuming he does want to be traded and start somewhere, and if he look at things logically, he'll understand the following.

    1. Morey wants to trade him too. Morey understands quite well that 15-20 mpg of Asik is not maximizing value.
    2. Morey is not going to trade him 50 cents on the dollar even if he pouts. If anything, Morey is simply going to keep him instead if his value keeps getting lower.
    3. It makes more sense for Morey to trade him at the deadline, because this way they can limit Howard's minutes in the regular season.
    4. There's no upside to complaining whether for himself or for the team.

It really is best for everyone that Asik stays patient, plays backup for half a season, and wait for Morey to find the right deal to trade him.

Well, you have to pay premium for a good big man - and Asik is a bargain. You can't underestimate always having a great defensive anchor on the floor. And I am not totally buying them not being able to play together. So yeah, I want Asik to stay...

BUT - our Two centers make as much money as the rest of the team combined. I don't know if that can work as far as team construction goes. If we can get fair value for him, I guess we have to trade him - if not, lets try it. We probably won't win the championship this year, so there is no sense in selling low!

Everyone else is trying to play small ball with a few exceptions like the grizzlies who have zbo and marc gasol. No one else is playing twin tower type basketball so we should exploit that to our advantage. We can prolly play small too if we want, but if size will be our advantage then damn it we need to pound that ball inside, kick to open shooters, and make cuts.

Imagine us playing twin towers against the heat. Lebron will be limited to his perimeter game and so will wade and bosh.

Against the spurs, d12 will fight it out against duncan, and asik will rule against splitter.

The match ups goes on and on. And we will rule in those match ups with the twin towers playing together in some minutes.

    There are two questions though:

    1. Can Asik or D12 defend the perimeter? I'd say yes - there even was a video of Asik from his Chicago days showing him defend against guards.

    2. Do they clog the paint in a way that destroys our offense? I don't know. Asiks hands are a factor, since there would be lots of passes in right spaces. If Asik can develope a 15 footer, we'd have no problem, if not McHale needs to be creative. But not impossible...

Oh by the way, i think if the rockets will be the 1st seed in the wc nearing the deadline, i think asik wont be traded. Morey will ride him until the play offs.

But It will be a different story if we suddenly end up 5th seed or lower. Only then will morey make major moves to fill perceived holes or god forbid chemistry/locker room issues.

He doesn't need to sit his ass, I'm fine with rolling with Howard and Asik front court. We now have a gajillion shooters on the team, let the two of them stay in the paint and let it rain on offense.

On defense...the OP's pic sums it up nicely. I'd love to see the Heat drive in on that front court.

Hey, asik has an underrated shooting game. He could shoot short jumpers but just could not show it enough since he cleans the glass, which means he is playing near the rim most of the time.

Dont forget that asik comes from turkey (part asia and part europe). They are taught strict fundamentals there.

Will he have d-mo range? No. But nonetheless, him shooting short jumpers more will let dwight rule down below and unclog the painted area.

Sounds like the Rockets' FO is doing damage control. They're trying to silence the chatter of the trade talks in the wake of Dwight's signing. The assistant GM bit was a nice touch.

I feel the same way. Before catering to other teams playing small ball, see if we can overwhelm them with height and power in the post. Like people have said, Howard started off as a PF and has the speed and agility to keep up. He even played PG and SF back in the day.

LOL! Great job! The original is almost just as funny as it is though. They ought to put Howard and Asik's lockers right next to each other and then put this picture on the separating wall between the to get them to laugh. It would help break any tension.

Imagine playing against the Rockets with both Howard and Asik. Dwight farts on you for 30-35 minutes and, while he recharges on the bench, Omer is be there to rub his sweat all over you for the other 13-18 minutes.

You don't think D12 views HIMSELF as a 'young guy'?....

There was an interview D Morey did back during the season in which he talked about the fact that if it were up to him, Asik would never come off the court. But, he said he realizes he isn't made to play 30+ minutes a game. They had to find spots for him to rest where it wouldn't hurt the outcome of the game.

I think it is clear D Morey and the Rockets understand that Asik and Howard or any "Big Man" needs to be preserved. Just go ask Yao Ming, he had to play too much and it cost him. With these two bigs spelling each other, we will always have a defensive and rebounding presence on the court.
