So does that mean there is a chance that Aaron Hernandez and Nidal Hasan will also being acquitted/innocent from their murder charges?
Jeez, isn't this kinda like you throwing out the expectation that you'll be called an "Uncle Tom" or "sellout"? Just like the majority of those responding to your posts tonight have not called you either of those two terms, please tell me where the majority of those responding to your posts tonight have taken issue w/u for "not being 100% for Zimmerman being convicted"? Seriously wtf? That's not even the discussion most of us are having with you. I honestly could not care any less whether you or others were 100% hoping for a conviction and I can't speak for the other two but my impression is that they couldn't give two sh!ts about that either. The problem we're having is you making generalizations about blacks and their behaviour as it pertains to this trial and other situations.
HUH? Say what??? BOTH of them put themselves in bad situations that led to this. BOTH OF THEM! One decided to follow and accost the other. The other decided to get involved in a physical altercation (we don't know who started the altercation but we do know he was involved in it) and those two situations led to the death of a teenager. Both were involved in bad situations, Zimmerman had an opportunity to heed the advice of those tasked with responding to such situations and he chose to ignore it. Regardless of what I'm saying the law (and jurors) have spoken and so we move on. Civil trial up next so we'll see how that goes.
Robert Zimmerman was very articulate in his post verdict interview with Piers Morgan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ePcLS5f7jw&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I don't think stand your ground played a major factor. I think you have to look at the situation and ask yourself this question. If someone is on top of you beating you, do you have a right to use deadly force if you feel your life is threatened - regardless of how you got there. I think the answer is yes. TM didn't just attack GZ, he had him on the ground and was beating him. That was poor judgment in and of itself. And there is a case of a woman who shot a gun in the air a few times to prevent her husband from attacking here. She was sentenced to 20years. So much for stand your ground.
It's been a couple of hours since the verdict, and I'm still disgusted. I think of all my students and how each one of them could potentially be caught up in a "Trayvon" situation. When you're unfamiliar looking to someone, or if you wear clothing that is relevant to your culture or choice of style, you have a decent chance of being stalked or involved in an altercation with a wannabe cop. George was let off, but he's certainly guilty in more ways than one. When he answers to God for MURDER, real justice will be served. I don't believe in harming anyone, but I do believe in the power of Karma, and GZ definitely won't earn any points in that area. What a disgrace he is and what a slap in the face of African American parents and everyone else that has been victimized by racial profiling.
Theres no way to know who started the fight but people who run away dont tend to run back and start a fight they ran away to avoid in the first place but anyway, GZ is straight lying about the how the fight went, just by the physical evidence. The lack of blood on TM's hands and gun after GZ claims TM smothered his nose and mouth and grabbed for his gun. The logistics of TM grabbing a gun behind GZ's back, while he was laying on his back, that TM couldn't see. Hell the ability of GZ himself to lift himself up with someone on top of him to grab that gun from behind his back. He's lying. There had to be separation between the two for GZ to grab that gun and shoot Martin in the chest with one shot. The first instinct when you're right on top of someone, close contact, and they pull a gun out is to push it away or grab it. The blood evidence says he didn't grab it and the fact he was shot in the heart means he didn't push it away. That means there was enough separation between the two for GZ to pull his gun and TM not be able to react to it. I think TM was done kicking his ass, let up. Started to pull away, GZ pulled his gun, TM screamed, and GZ shot him. If GZ was screaming because TM was beating his ass we would have heard more than one scream. Prosecution rests, haha.
Good, common sense post. What happened with this jury? Common sense went out the door? I am still in shock. This case is more than just another case. It sets up distrust for the legal system, police (and fake ones like George), and yet another divide in racial compromise. African American parents identify with Trayvon and his family, and this case pretty much sets the precedent that young, African American boys can be shot in faux self-defense, just for looking unfamiliar in an upper class neighborhood. Yes, it's a gross generalization, but that's what happened tonight. Sickening.
She ran through several rooms and into the garage to retrieve a gun from the glove box of her car , then back through the house and shot at the guy . I think this woman's sentence is excessive but really has little similarity with the Zimmerman trial ,
+1 Divide and conquer is the primary strategy of the MSM and our political system as a whole. Until people start thinking for themselves we will be hard pressed to continue moving forward for a better America.
You need EVIDENCE if you're going to convict. Be mad at the detectives and prosecution all you want. The jury did its job.
Much respect to the black community in Sanford and across the nation for focusing their outrage through the appropriate channels (civil rights suits, peaceful demonstrations, tweeting etc.), instead of rioting, looting, and setting cars on fire and stuff. Shame on those who assumed the worst of them, including the preventative actions taken by certain "law enforcement" agencies.
The fact that there was an altercation to begin with was enough to provide reasonable doubt, all of these wild conjectures about the motives behind it probably didn't gain any traction in juror's minds, because the altercation basically proved that the shooting wasn't in cold blood.
I know very little about this, but that's just downright shameful. All of the media focus has been on the Zimmerman trial because of race. This other case was about a black woman and black man. This woman should not be going to prison, but not a damn media outlet cared enough to shine a brighter light on this case. This shows how terrible the media truly is. Race-baiting = $$$
To say the least, I was stunned. He was quite impressive in debunking the "pop culture" talking points of the case. Didn't know that his brother and wife had mentored two Black kids without financial support.
And I don't either on a macro level, you guys are just putting words into my mouth. I know there's a lot of gray out there but the fact of the matter is from where I'm standing, at the very least the loudest voices from the black community are the most irrational voices. Do I have to put a disclaimer that there are usually many exceptions to the rule in every post? And give me a break if you don't think the majority of Chinese people you meet will speak Chinese or at the very least some Asian language. It's just logical though you make a conscious effort to know that there's a chance they don't. Stereotyping is part of how we interact with each other--it's human nature--but it doesn't mean you don't prepare for your stereotype to be wrong. I sort of contradicted myself there from the first paragraph but I think it's a little different assuming that people of a certain ethnic group will speak that group's native language(s) and making an observation that in your experience the majority of a certain group feels or does a certain thing/way WHILE still acknowledging there are exceptions. And where did I ever say you thought anything specifically? I'm referring to what I think is the opinion of the majority of blacks (again just my opinion). Heck, where did I say racism didn't still exist? As a matter of fact, in my first three post in this thread about ten pages back I clearly mentioned the history of discrimination in this country and how we as black people are used to getting the short end of the stick. We actually agree about the overuse of the race card. I'm fine with you thinking my frame of mind is wrong (the name calling came from Amaru, not you) but the majority of what I've seen for months is irrational and mean spirited commentary coming from the black community let alone how some blacks routinely drum up race where it doesn't belong (just an observation from life experience). Maybe those are just the loudest voices and there's actually a silent majority but this is what I've seen and concluded. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- You mean like Amaru shortly thereafter called me a Fignewton? I never said the majority thought that, in some cases I was specifically talking to Amaru or perhaps Lil' Pun since he's made some responses to me. Tons of assumptions made about my posts. And do I have to to always put a disclaimer that I don't think all blacks, let alone any group of people, feel the same way about anything or is that just way too hard to process (I'm sorry I had to get to a point where I'd utter something that ignorant)? This is a message board and unlike real life conversations, everything I put down is recorded and you can go back and read it. If I ever said ALL black people in regards to anything let me know, otherwise it's foolish to assume that I would say all think this or that.
