about as much as a girl being told by her friends to not go into Kobe's hotel room. Let me guess, you think that in that case the teenager was asking for it amirite?
Man, I just remembered why I stay away from D&D. Too many people I like in GARM and other areas turn out to be douchebags when you see how they really think in D&D. I'm gonna leave this one. Not worth it, and most here are running purely based on emotion. Se ya'll in GARM.
I'm pretty sure there is a difference between being welcomed in and being raped and someone stalking someone without the consent of the person being stalked. Horrible analogy.
Dispatch told him not to pursue....tough guy with the gun pursued anyway. Someone ends up dead when the situation could have been avoided had he taken heed to the given instruction. Has nothing to do with a rape case. Had he let that kid live and minded his own damn business, none of this would have happened. What the F&CK is your point? Let me guess......you have none.
You made that assumption. As I've said before on this board, I make some generalizations sometimes. It saves time, space, massive typing and lots of text on the page. I know there's lots of gray in the world and not every black person (or any group of people period) thinks exactly the same way. I even believe I said "in general" in at least one post when making one of these type of points but again, the general feeling I get from blacks is that they already had their mind made up before they even heard anything about. "Some white guy is about to get off for killing a black without just cause, as usual." I get that mentality very much and it may even be true that he did. But from what I've seen from the start of the cases in places like here, in real life, in social networking, etc... it seems not one thought of rationality is going through the mind of some black people. This is the same reason so many blacks blindly support Obama (whether they have an educated opinion about him or not). Again, I haven't been doing that if you've payed close attention to my posts. My posts have very much been in general speaking. There have been polls in the last couples years where people either have statistically started having negative opinions on blacks or felt they were more racist than others. This thread is moving at a fast pace, so you can google it. Also, as a suburbanite, I've been around whites at least as much as blacks in my life and can tell you most white are at worst indifferent toward blacks until they get annoyed by having the Race Card thrown at them at every moment's notice. Just my observation in my experiences.
In general speaking is no better because it implies all or the majority. Again, it only helps perpetuate prejudice and/or racism. If I said "White people can't dance in general, except Justin Timberlake." how is that not grouping the majority of a race and assigning them a seemingly negative connotation when I do not even know the majority of said race? In general makes it no better.
Yes, because someone should feel equally as rapey about a girl in a skirt as they feel threatened about being followed by a man in the dark. Oh, and shoutout to bobmarley/Commodore with this one! Classic Rock Musician Lester Chambers Assaulted on Stage Tonight After Dedicating Song to Trayvon Martin
The only things I would like to see now are - Zimmerman having his CHL revoked - Prosecution fired for these charges from the get go
After having a career in the justice system, more precisely the courts, the verdict was no surprise. Trial by media, trial by politics, trial by reality show standards (are there any?), trial by emotion, trial by prejudice, trial by assumptions, trial by wishful thinking, trial by vivid imagination of what might have happened IS NOT TRIAL BY LAW. The trial was over after the first prosecution witness; it got worse from there. The defense was far from brilliant, but light years better than the prosecution which was stuck with no eye witnesses of the entire event, no tangible or compelling evidence, and the wrong charge. The jury returned the most likely verdict under the law. Personally, I would have gone with a manslaughter and 5-10 years, but I fully understand their verdict.
I'm sorry, you think people viewing posts in one thread have the time or desire to seek your prior posts to find out if you've posted warnings about your use of generalizations? O-k. It's probably a good idea to not keep making such generalizations in spite of time saved, text etc. I don't think most would be opposed but I might be wrong. Question. Aren't you grouping black people together regardless of education level and socio-economic status? Don't you think that would play a part in terms of rationality in regard to cases like this as well as election voting? (Not saying no blacks of a high education level and socio-economic status didn't do any of the things you've mentioned) You could differentiate in terms of that issue. You're entitled to your observations but for myself and possibly for others on here I believe it to be incorrect and my experiences have shown me that, but then again I have no idea what city and suburb you live in and the white people you're around.
My point of that Hurricane Rita story was to make one example of how whites, even when you'd least expect it in some redneck town, can be compassionate and overlook race. Many blacks do too but in my experience, by percentage, blacks overstate racism and use the history of prejudice and injustice in this country to act irrationally toward whites. Again, in general and by percentage (in my mind). I can't speak for MLK since he's not here but IMO he would not like the urban culture that has sprang up in recent generations. He'd be saddened how so much of the black youth strive to be entertainers/sports rather than to be highly educated and be as productive in society as possible, how so many would prefer to be negative rather than positive (again, not EVERYONE, not even close). While he may side with the black community on this particular issue, I think (in my humble and not overriding opinion) blacks would be shocked at that he'd have plenty of negative to say about the state of black America. Just my opinion, again, and I'm not grouping every single last person (you see how much typing and text space this takes up?). Yes, there are bigots and Social Darwinists but is that any different than the groups that think white people are the devil or inherently evil? And as I said, most whites are at worst indifferent toward blacks and get turned off by being considered a racist, as well as double standards like the N-word, Affirmative Action (justifiable for blacks imo), organizations like the NAACP and BET, etc... Remember, many white groups immigrated to this country long after original European settlement and did not take part in the injustices and even tried to make changes. That's straying from subject to some degree but bottom line, I think blacks have been overstating the race factor in this case. We can agree to disagree and leave it there. How else can I state my opinion? IMO, I've been very careful tonight about trying to group people into select pockets and stereotypes but how else can I state any argument like these without stereotyping to some degree? Hell, I think most ethnic Chinese people will speak Chinese. It doesn't mean I don't know there aren't exceptions.
You can state your opinion without stereotyping. Simple. Who cares how much space it takes up, it helps clarify your stance otherwise I and many others would take you to be prejudice and/or racist, not that you care what we think but I'm just saying how that type of thinking can come off.
