So why does any of this mean Rondo will be a Rocket by trade deadline.

Rondo is a nice player. BUT.. We don't know how his knee will limit him in coming seasons. ALSO if we DO get Rondo... We either won't be getting full value out of Harden or Rondo. Both need to have the ball in their hand to be the player they are and live up the expectations of a max contract. What we need if we plan to go for a third star is someone who can be great without having to pound the ball on the floor. Rondo is nice, but no where near worth what we would have to give up to get him.

Pretty sure that harden played really well off the ball in okc when he was sharing time with kd & the ninja turtle too. That is one aspect of his game, not all of it. That's just all we saw last season because there was nobody else to do it.

Harden is a great finisher and scorer. The last thing you want is for him to do ISO all the time.

Having Rondo will force the ball out of Harden's hand. It allows Rondo to do what he does best, a great play maker. It also allows Harden to do what he does best, a great finisher.

    2 birds, 1 stone.

Similarly, Rondo will force a reluctant Howard to do PnR. Another multiplicative effect.

Nope, he played more of the Ginobili role. He took the ball out of Westbrook's hands in 4th Qs, which helped OKC. You want him with the ball, not off the ball.

1st post ever in clutchfans so here goes.

Rondo is a great guard, but he is ultra competitive so He is gonna do something stupid like bump a refand other things. The only guy who did control him or calm him down was kg, and that was ouy of respect.

The current rockets are also competitive but while at it they are a fun bunch. Rondo will only be isolated once he starts to bark orders at dwight, harden, parsons. Kg and pierce let him have a part of the leadership but it is without friction.

I see locker room problems if this will happen. But i hope i am wrong

All of his skills are redundant on this team. Who cares how a PG rebounds? Your pg should be getting back on defense, not rebounding. It's such an overrated stat for guards. Howard is usually near the top of the league in rebounds, he doesn't need help from a 6ft guard. Harden and Howard are the mismatches on this team, you want those guys 'creating for others', not Rondo dominating the ball and relegating those guys to finishers. They make max money to be more than finishers. As for defense - the Rockets should have a good defense based on their frontline. You want other skills besides defense in your backcourt, mainly SHOOTING to draw attention away from your best players.

Trading for Rondo would be such a terrible, godawful idea.

Most overrated point guard in the league + terrible fit with the Rockets + HUGE ego and maturity problems + coming off a bad injury

    Dream on.

Personally, I don't think Morey wants to trade Asik and Lin.
They are way more valuable than most fans on this forum think.

Is it because Houston has been such a mediocre team in recent history that it's fans are always coveting other players?

Morey is not going to throw away potential great players like Asik and Lin. They spent a season building up team chemistry, I don't think the fans realize how important that team chemistry is. Adding Dwight is going to be tough enough. No one including players, management, fans want to to start from scratch again. My prediction is they will keep Lin and Asik for the start of this season at least for some continuity.

If you get Rondo, you need great shooters off the bench not just good ones.
I do not think we got the big pocket for that.

Could not be more wrong. Rondo makes them better but also still glaring weaknes.....Shooting is very important.

Would go for a Damian Lillard type or Irving before Rondo

Can't shoot...not sure that's what we need. Is a big part of the reason we're considering moving Lin. Rondo is a good distributor, but I think we need shooting and rebounding too.

Not saying that's not a strength....rather that he can play off the ball well also. Agree to disagree on rondos fit I guess...like I said, just my opinion. You have yours & the truth probably lies somewhere in between. You make some valid points as well. Few fits are perfect, I'm just saying I don't think it would be apocalyptic, as many are suggesting.
