SCHERERVILLE — Three men have been charged with killing 24-year-old Jacqueline Gardner and taking the tip money she earned from her restaurant job on May 19.

One of the three men, Stephen Lee Henderson, 25, of Gary, is still at large and considered armed and dangerous, Schererville police said Wednesday.

In custody at the Lake County Jail are Michael A. Craig, 22, of Merrillville, and William Blasingame III, 30, of Harvey, Ill.

All three were charged with murder and a second count of murder in the perpetration of a robbery.

Gardner lived in the 8000 block of Alpine Lane in the Hidden Creek apartment complex, south of Pine Island. She was shot in the hallway outside her apartment about 11:30 p.m. Saturday after she arrived home from work at Joe’s Crab Shack in Merrillville.

A witness heard cries for help and saw three males enter a black Oldsmobile Aurora and leave the area, according to charging documents. The witness recorded the license plate number and gave it to police.

Let's see if this arouses as much passion as the Trayvon Martin thread... I say it won't.

Why would it? Sounds like they've already been charged unlike George Zimmerman who wasn't arrested nor charged after an entire month. Good comparison giddy.

Unless one of the 3 suspects puts forward a questionable self-defense claim and is then released by the police without charges, you're probably right.

But that's not really your point here, is it?

Her death was clearly more vicious than Trayvon's. Three killers participated. The motive was robbery. No hint of self-defense on the part of the killers. Where is the outrage?

Where is the anger towards these guys to a fraction of the degree exhibited for George Zimmerman? Where is the sympathy for this hard-working young woman to a fraction of the degree mustered up for Trayvon Martin?

C'mon guys; I know you can do it. Get worked up on this poor dead woman's behalf. You have a long way to go to catch up to the Trayvon Martin thread.

You have totally lost it dude. You should stick with the whole black slave masters of the south as an excuse for Paula Deen thing, at least that was funny.

So you have no explanation as to why you are not outraged at this poor woman's death... in the way that you are outraged for Trayvon Martin?

Are you saying that you are outraged for Trayvon because Zimmerman wasn't charged quickly enough? Actually, they decided NOT to charge him for lack of evidence. That is until the race-baiting started. Then it took a politically-motivated SP to finally bring charges. That is just peachy.

Then the "key" witnesses for the prosecution kind of fell through and all that's left is to try and poke holes in someone's recollection of 40 seconds of violence in the dark from almost a year ago.

I was outraged at Martin's death for several reasons. #1, an unarmed teenage boy was shot to death by a grown man who was following him in the dark and the police didn't even arrest the guy. That's outrageous. #2, strangely the police drug and alcohol tested the dead teenager but not the killer. That screams incompetence to me. #3 the lead detective recommended manslaughter charges and did not find Zimmerman credible but the district attorney declined to prosecute, which again screams incompetence.

My outrage stemmed from the manner in which all of it was handled.

You've tried to turn this into some racial butthurt thing where whitey is constantly bombarded as a racist and you feel you have to defend whitey with black slave masters and random killings by black people. You are gone dude.

giddy, I think there is outrage about anyone's murder, and that includes this woman. But that isn't news because it wasn't as if she was killed and the killer isn't even arrested or attempted to be arrested and having the possibility of there never being a trial.

The outrage in that situation isn't normal, and would actually be news.

Why would there be outrage? Arrests have been speedily made, charges filed and eh are looking fore third perpetrator. In that case, justice is being done. In the Zimmerman case, the cops and prosecution botched it from word one. No real investigation was being done. That is where the outrage came from.

You can cry race baiting all you want, that still doesn't make it true.

Zimmerman was interviewed for 5 hours. If he had exhibited behavior that suggested drug testing was appropriate, I'm sure he would have been tested. The ONLY way to assess the dead teen's "sobriety" was to test him since no behavior could be observed.

Serino felt "pressured" to file charges from other department members who were acquaintances of Martin's father; he felt there was not enough evidence:

A "white' Hispanic kills in self defense and it is taken as proof that America is a fundamentally evil and racist society. About 2500 blacks are murdered each year in America by other blacks. But I guess that's just "keepin' it real."

If he exhibited behavior, like oh killing someone? Did they give Zimmerman a sobriety test? You are constantly full of BS. It's way beyond old at this point.

When these 2500 blacks get killed, and the police find the guy that admitted he did the killing, how many of them just get released after questioning.

There are 200+ murders of blacks by whites each year as well. Why don't we have 200 Martin like stories running all the time?

This thread is ignorant and should be locked. Of course this event is atrocious and the offenders should be dealt with according to the law and based on the information provided, that is what is being done.

    Dumb thread is dumb.
