Big Three is the Big Two with insurance. Just because you have two superstars doesn't mean you'll get 2 superstars worth of production every game. That's why with a Big Three, you can have players suck it up and still win. You can fill up your team with role players as much as you like, but you won't beat the Heat in 7 games with only 2 superstars - unless they play phenomenally every single game.

I apologize if I missed the hypothetical for this question, but is there a chance we run into the same "poison pill" contract situation with Parsons if we wait to sign him to an extension so as to allow us to sign another high-dollar player and waiting to give Parsons the raise he has earned because we can sign him after another player(free agent for example) and pay him whatever he like over the cap limit because we have his rights.

I know we got the better of Chicago and NY with the backloaded contract figures for Asik and Lin respectively, I just want to make sure the Rockets can't get screwed over like that and G*d forbid we have to let Parsons walk.

I know our front office is way ahead of the curve with respect to all scenarios and especially seem to be ahead of virtually all other NBA teams with regard to strategy and planning for the future with the new CBA. I'm sure they have thought of all this, but now that we have this promising, star-studded team with years to grow together, I worry that it might get ripped away from all the long-time Rockets fans that have been waiting since the mid-90's for another Championship run or 4

Just watch, some team will overpay Chandler Parsons. I love Parsons, but someone will pay a contract like Rashard Lewis' with the Magic.

Rockets are dangling Josh Smith's contract out in front of Parsons. Go get your carrot young man.

If this is true, Les should just sell the team.

    I don't agree.

Big 3 is just a name that was given to LeBron, Wade and Bosh before they even played a game together. From the Miami example it's more of a BIG 2 and a half. This year, it's more like a VERY BIG 1 and 2 GOOD BUT NOT GREAT. See how labels mean nothing.

There are many different team constructs that are capable of winning championships. The BIG 3 is not the be all and end all. They were beaten by Dallas's BIG 1 and could have been beaten by Indiana and San Antonio ths year.

Lin, Parsons, Asik, T-Jones or someone else may have a break out season like Paul George last year. I think Morey is looking for someone to shine this season before thinking he needs to go out and get another star.

The hate on this board for Josh Smith is delusional. People will hire out their girlfriends and wives for 7 nights when they hear that Francisco Garcia is back. However NOOOOOO.....Josh Smith makes them want to kill themselves. This guy is an elite defender and has All-Star talent. But he obviously has too much personality for some of your egos to handle. He needs to be "professional", and "deadly serious", to even begin to please some of you. Showing any personality that exceeds the one displayed by a FBI patrol invites open ridicule, disgust, and ultimately blatant rejection.

Clutchfans, where people actively reject Dwight Howard and Josh Smith but pounces on the opportunity to madly embrace "consummate professional" role players.

And one more thing, I promise and promise again that the money does not come out of your pockets. Trust me. I know, its shocking.

This is due to the compunding tax. Most of those players above will be gone in 2 years where Nets can go under the Tax to avoide the compounding tax.

While for rox, if they sign a 3rd star and give Parson a large contract, Les will be paying compounding tax for the next 5-7 years.

It's not his personality that poses a problem. It's his atrocious shot chart.

To be honest if Parsons cannot improve to a Paul George level this yeat as a starter then he is all hype and average at best.
