I don't know that it's Sandlers fault . Hard to be funny with the crappy scripts floating around hollywood .
50 First Dates was pretty good and the last movie of his I really saw all the way through. Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore and Wedding Singer are my favorites and still hold up well. I thought Big Daddy was funny the first tume and when I tried watching it again it was pretty horrible. That courtroom scene at the end kills it.
Some of his movies are good. I really like Happy Gilmore (my Steam name is Shooter_McGavin which always gets a chuckle in Call of Duty). 50 first dates is pretty good too. My favourite Sandler movie though is probably Click. It was unexpectedly...heart-warming.
He knows that enough people watch adam sandler movies to crack on how bad adam sandler movies are. All the way to the bank. His few creative juices ran out a while back. Now he's doing "Zohan" and stuff like that simply cuz he can. As long as he can draw big acting names and big money, this is what itll be. Chris Rock is a funnier writer, but his work doesnt sell all that well. He'll take a grown-ups movie salary from his comedy buddies in the meantime, thats how the movies get made.
Click was definitely the last of his movies that I really enjoyed enjoyed. The Longest Yard wasn't too bad either...but I might've been biased with all the wrestling cameos at the time.
The first Grown Ups was one of the worst 'comedies' I've ever seen. I can't imagine the second one being any better.
I saw Grown Ups 2 last night and when Taylor Lautner is the funniest character in the movie you know there's a problem. The movie relied to Salma's boobs(which are lovely by the way) and fart jokes.
I agree that most of his recent comedies have not been too great, but That's My Boy was a pretty funny movie, surprisingly.
He was never all that funny to begin with. The whole "let's make a movie about a semi-r****ded man-child doing [insert mundane thing here]" was basically the Ernest series, only with a bigger budget.
Adam Sandler is the white Tyler Perry. They could film themselves pooping in a box and it would gross +100 million. Now an actually smart producer in Hollywood would team those guys up in some comedy.
Explain, please. *never heard of this* Assumption: We liked him in In Living Color, but when he went DRAMA it changed?
It's his production company, so it's not like he's being forced to take these projects. I've never been a big Sandler, even the "classics" which I liked but never loved. Now a days he's turned into this.... Can't believe Grown Ups 2 is tracking to make more money than Pacific Rim......
