Would be funny if the Lakers say "okay, we're gonna amnesty you then."

I wouldn't take a pay cut either. Money now always > money later.

Honestly hanging on to him is a disaster for the Lakers - and that is AWESOME....

They should have amnestied him and built around Howard.

You can only used the amnesty once. And noticed Kobe only said this after the Lakers has amnestied MWP?

THat's not the same situation at all. Kobe made 30M every year, MJ only made 30M his last couple of years, the rest of the years he actually only made 7M including his prolonged rookie contract.

This is one reason the Bulls had a team capable of reaching the NBA finals without him, I don't really like MJ but he was the ultimate team player in terms of taking as little as possible so the team around him could be better.

He should get all the money he can, I don't understand why people are getting on him for wanting to make money.

Agreed. IMO, Unless he starts championship ring whoring . . . .
he has won his last ring . . .. and the lakers could not build
a competitive team in time for him to get another one

So he takes a cut . .. who do they get? Who is available to play with to get a ring that would come to Laker land???
Let's say he only made league minimum next year. . . . WHO COULD THEY POSSIBLY GET TO MAKE THEM CONTENDERS???

It makes no sense to take a cut ./ . .with 0 benefit

Kobe fought hard to force the Lakers into playoffs last season even though the team was not playing well.

He deservers every penny and most of all, RESPECT.

Kobe got well paid for that performance. U don't pay in the future for what he has done in the past. He won't be able to play like that again.

But you do get paid for what your contract already states you will get paid. LOL.

I can't blame Kobe here, as much as I hate him. However I do hope the Lakers would give him max money until he's 40.

Kobe, what a chump. Jordan made his championships with teammates that HE made names for. Kobe got his rings with FA acquisitions. Since kobe has not won a championship without a marquee FA it is despicable to me that the guy won't take a paycut.
