I'm undecided. Wasn't bad, but hasn't drawn me in like Avatar. It may just take time. I'm so sad everyone is dead, aside from Katara. I hate that they mentioned Zuko's mom, but then didn't get to say what happened. Also I'm intrigued how Zuko's family fits into all of this. Also interested in Katara & Aang's other two children, and if Sokka had any.

While I'm still not a fan of Korra herself, this story is setting itself up to be great. I LOVE that they took the extremes from the first series (metal bending, lightning bending
    taking away a benders powers
) and made those common place. They are pushing themselves to take the series further.

What did yall think of how the first season ended? I thought it was good but the last episode was a little underwhelming.

Also, just FYI, but they're replaying the show at 8pm with creator commentary. They do two episodes at a time. Had the first two episodes last night.

Then starting at 9pm the play two Avatar episodes with extras and notes that pop up on the screen.

    I'm 25 and watch cartoons

I liked the series but wasn't on par with the original series. The ending was a little weak. Not epic at all.

Season 1 of Last Air Bender didn't end in an "Epic" fashion. We can't compare the end of this season to the very end of the Last Air Bender. We have to have the relationships build, invest emotionally in the characters for an epic ending.

That's true. We have 16 more episodes, and coolest of all is (spoiler if you haven't yet seen this series all the way though)
she will be a full-fledged Avatar for all 16!

I hope to see more flashbacks of Katara, Sokka, Toph, Aang and Zuko.

And after this series I'd like a spin-off series of Zuko looking for his mom.

It didn't feel epic because it was only the city in the danger, at least that's what I thought. Even by the intro of Airbender, it's actually stated the fate of the world is at stake. And the army being snuffed out so easily looked like it was just an excuse to throw in Dante Basco.

And them being stuck in the city didn't allow them to meet a whole bunch of characters. It's only korra and her team, while Airbender had zuko and aangs group, with a new side character featured almost every week like Jet or Bumi. That being said, airbender's 2nd season was extraordinary, and so should Korras.

And the Tarlokk's ending was about as moving as anything else from Aang's story.

    I loved the ending.

Tarlock and Amon's backstory gave their characters much more depth. At the start Tarlock was portrayed as very Commander Zhao-like; a bullheaded clichéd villain. I loved his character arc although it felt a bit too sudden. I was quite shocked with the boat scene given that it's a kid's show.

I spent around 4 years making 'The Last Airbender' video games and became very familiar with the cartoon series and seeing adult Aang appearing before Korra at the end brought on a deep sense of nostalgia. This was compounded further when Roku, Kyoshi and the other past avatars materialised behind Aang since I remembered when Aang himself received advice from Roku in TLA. I really like all the tie ins to the original series.
Once this series is done it would be awesome if they advance the world again by 70 years and set it in the modern world. And when that series is done fast forward again and set it in the year 2080, culminating in one series for each Avatar from each nation set in a different time period.

Ursa? Kinda disappointed. I was hoping I'd get to see a full series with Aang and company facing an even greater foe than Fire Lord Ozai... perhaps one even more ancient than the massive Lion Turtle who knew Energybending.

Still, thanks for sharing. Wonder if that was Azula they showed near the end of the video. :p

I can't wait till the whole series is done, so I can watch it all as a whole. I hate having to wait for the next episode/book to air.

Just finished the whole Book 1 in one day. Not too shabby, though I'd have to see how the rest of the 2 books go.

    My thoughts:

    1. How in the hell are Mako and Bolin different benders? Earth benders give birth to earth benders and fire benders give birth to fire benders. How can one set of parents give birth to two different benders. They're the only unique ones. Aang and Katara gave birth to Air benders... not to air benders and water benders.

    2. Besides Korra, there isn't really much character development for the others. However I blame this to the shortened number of episodes. Aang's first book got 20 episodes and Korra only got 12. I guess there isn't much adventuring you can do when you're stuck in a city. Aang's story was also made up of many different mini stories that could help develop each different character... while Korra's story is more of a continuous story line.

    3. I thought the love triangle story really slowed down the story. However I understand this was meant for younger audiences... so I'll let that slide. Also now that Korra and Mako are a couple, that renders Asami's character useless.

    4. They never really explained how Amon could take away a bender's ability. So that means any water bender who learns blood bending could eventually do the same. Maybe convenient for the latter books.

    5. I liked Sokka's character more than Bolin as the comic relief.

    6. How does Tenzin get an air bison as his pet thing? I thought Appa was the last of his kind... unless he's asexual and can mate with himself. Or he mated with Momo.

    7. I had hoped that they would spend at least one episode (maybe the first episode) transitioning from Aang's story to Korra's birth. I really want to know what's the deal with the old gang after they saved the world. Maybe they'll spend more time on them in the next book, since this one only got 12 episodes. Btw anyone know why this only got 12 episodes?

    8. Like others have mentioned, it's pretty exciting that metal and lightning bending is a norm now. I wonder what they'll do next. Maybe technology bending? It'll be like the Heroes. And Korra isn't a complete Avatar yet because she hasn't learned these two bending.

I believe the Appa thing was explained somewhere, not in the show but in some other official source. Aang found a pack of wild air bison later on after the first series.

    1. Where did you hear that? Apparently, the mom was a firebender, while the dad was an earthbender. I don't think it's mutually exclusive which element the offspring gets. Kya, the third child of Katara and Aang (Bumi, Tenzin), is going to be revealed as a waterbender in the season premiere.

2/3. This new Avatar series is actually hella darker than the lighthearted original series. Romance should absolutely be a part of any series with teenagers. Just because the Avatar is the Avatar, that doesn't mean they are emotionless robots lol. In fact, I found it stranger for Aang to crush on Katara, since he's so much younger than Korra currently is.

Also, the original Avatar had around 20 episodes, but that's because they introduced so many recurring characters. Jet's gang, Kyoshi Warriors, different water tribes. And most of that was in the first season. What I like is that characters might not need to recur. Asami's character, along with elements like probending, could easily be written out if another story needs to be told.

    4. I really hope they explain how BB could take away regular bending in the second season. It might have something to do with chi pathways.

    5. Agreed. Bolin is like a watered down version of Sokka, while Mako's personality matches Zuko. If they introduce new characters, I really hope their personalities are different from characters already seen in the original series.

    6. I think the creators only wanted 12 episodes. It's the same deal with Breaking Bad - quality over quantity. Granted, the original series was one of the best animated series ever, even though it had 20 episodes a Book. Honestly, Seasons 2 and 3 should have 20. 12 was good to introduce the origins, relationships, and a great baddie, but I don't think the creators would lose steam if they went with 20.

    7. The Avatar is the Avatar if they mastered the 4 basic types of bending. Lightning is just an advanced form of firebending, Metal of earthbending, and Blood of waterbending. What I'm curious of, is if Air will get its "advanced" form. Something like manipulating gravity in a certain area / space would be sick.
