feigen had tweeted that he might still end up playing in one of the summer league games......maybe with this deal finalized, he'll suit up for tomorrow's championship game

I don't understand the 570k talk? I thought you could go over the cap too sign picks and vet minimum deals.

I think due to his injury Feigen is implying that he will play in the Las Vegas Summer League. There is only one game left in the Orlando league so he probably would have just stated that he would play in the Championship.

Well the Rockets aren't playing in the LV Summer League so looks like we won't see him.

    Byebye LIN!

Canaan will make the Rockets waive Jeremy Lin when they realize no one will want to trade for him next year!

Does anyone know the details of Canaan's deal?

I imagine the 570k comes from the rookie minimum 490,180 + roughly 90k left over in cap room from the Dwight signing.

Is it possible to combine it with part of the Room Exception to give more?

He's not a vet, given that he has played 0 seasons in the NBA. His minimum is 490k. But because the Rockets will likely have ~570k left over after Dwight Howard signs, they can use that money to sign Cannan. The Rockets can only offer 4.5% raises, meaning that it's likely something close to 570k, 596k, 620k(team option).

He was a second round pick, which those players usually get the minimum. Anything over is not part of that rule. If he accepted the 570k or whatever more that is over the cap, then it's a little over the minimum that 2nd round picks usually get going straight into the NBA.

If you're talking about trade exceptions, those can't be combined.

I was wrong. Canaan apparently is playing tomorrow, judging from his tweet:

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Really looking forward to Tomorrow</p>&mdash; Isaiah Canaan (@SiP03) <a href="https://twitter.com/SiP03/statuses/355474264343842818">July 11, 2013</a></blockquote>

You can for your 1st rounders. You can only sign your 2nd rounders for the minimum salary if you are going over the cap, unless you use an exception.
