I'm not surprised. This is Kobe.

    Plus, he can still ball.

Money is more important to NBA players than winning. If it weren't, stars would flock to a Charlotte-like situation to get paid the max and win 30 games a year.

Can't believe there was so much hate around LeBron when it should all be directed at Kobe.

I think he will have to if the Lakers play hardball...who else is going to give him big money? A aging star player that still wants all the control and still has a ego?

    Who wants that?

You do realize what you said makes no damn sense right? Read what you said again.

Well that is possible. Let me try again: Kobe, and others, have getting paid as their first priority. Even if it comes at the expense of cap room to be used to acquire better teammates.

Sweet! This ensures that the Lakers will suck for the next 3 years. The lakers will have 15-20 mill tied up in an old Kobe

A lot hate towards Kobe in this thread. Let's not forget if not for Kobe, we wouldn't have gotten Duhwight. Thanks Kobe!

Hakeem chased the money. Nobody dared to ask MJ to take a paycut. He got 33 freaking million in 1 year. In Kobe's head he's elite, it's a slap in his face to consider taking a paycut. It isn't about money it's about ego. And ultimately I cant hate on that because that competitive, seemingly disgusting quality drove Jordan. And I love me some Jordan.

he's earned it.. and it's LA. if he was playing for SA or Bobcats, hell yes. Kobe plays like a bull so it's worth every penny.

Well I was more pointing out the fact that you said "Money is more important to NBA players than winning" then you went on to say "If it weren't, stars would flock to a Charlotte-like situation to get paid the max and win 30 games a year."

Those 2 sentences contradict each other. You say money is all that matters and that if it was not players would just play for the Bobcats for the max and only win 30 games. Well if that's what they are doing then that would be all about money. See where you messed up?

That was apparently very incoherent. This is what I was trying to say:
