Stunt the team? Linsanity happened because he improved team play and Actually won games so don't see where he stunted the team. But he's no longer the best player on this team so no point discussing this anyway.
Jeremy Lin was an undrafted free agent who played in the Ivy League. Steve Nash was a number one pick, led his team to three NCAA tournaments, and was honorable mention All-American. The only eye test required when they both entered the league was to read their college resumes. The problem with Linsanity is that it disappeared once clearly more talented players became healthy. Lots of players and teams can look incredible for stretches of a season. I remember one year Dream got hurt and Larry Smith played like a monster, I think he had some 20+ rebound games, Sleepy Floyd and Otis Thorpe ran this incredible pick and roll and after the team adjusted to not having Dream they played amazing basketball. **** happens dude. We don't use stretches of basketball seasons to project comparisons to hall of famers.
Alright, finally sounds like a real fan. If I think Jeremy Lin has a chance to accomplish more then Hakeem, then I am brain dead. Wow~!! Logic!! Sure, but I don't think that's the case. I'm just saying, don't hate the player even if you hate his fans. Rocket fans won't hate Dream even if he has some annoying and obsessive Nigerian fans here right?
Certainly not but high school, college, and the draft serve to sift out talent. I await for Jeremy Lin to show he's on Nash's level.
That's completely not my intention. I was just trying to make a point, and analogy. I'm sorry if it ticked you off.
When he was initially drafted, fans booed because he was relatively unknown. He was prematurely looked down upon for not playing in one of the major college conferences. Sound familiar? Anyways, I wasn't making any comparison. Did you not read my post? I didn't even want to compare them, their career projection or anything. I'm just saying, it's possible that maybe we're cutting him short of a few straws. I'm not using a stretch of basketball season to jettison him into HoF, but I am saying that it may be possible a higher ceiling of basketball level is out there for him.
Lol. I remember that crush of crazy Nigerian fans back in 1984 on the internets. It was just like you guys. They were all talking up Dream like he was some kind of big deal. Except Dream was like an All-American, went to three final fours, and was the first pick in the draft. Just like Jeremy Lin.
Good post but not sure if you're disagreeing or agreeing with me? You said that great players excel no matter what they're asked to do. I pointed out that as great as Howard and Lebron are, they still needed the right system to maximize their talent and you basically agreed with me. Yeah their 80% still blows others out the water and that's why they're great players but the point remains the same. I would even add that Parker would've sucked too if he was asked to be a spot up shooter early on when he didn't have a shot. Fortunately for him he didn't have anyone else on the team more capable then him as a pg. And yes, I completely agree that Lin is a role player at the moment on this team and should work to fit himself in whatever role he is asked to play. No question about that. As for what the expectations are when he was brought in... I really don't know, and it most likely changed after harden arrived but i will say this - from day one morey and mchale have stressed that they didnt bring him in to replicate linsanity but just to be a solid starting pg. and morey gave him an offer appropriate for that role, at 6 mil/yr, initially. But to play the restricted free agent game you almost always need to overpay a player so the other team wouldn't match, and thus the increase to 8.
I really don't even care to talk about this anymore. The team just signed the best center in the league, the top free agent in team history and you want to talk about Jeremy Lin. 28 pages of Jeremy Lin BS. It makes me want to puke.
How can I prove it? The disappointment of Eddie Griffin/MoT/Cato? Moochie's hair? Bromance of Cat and Franchise? I never jump on bandwagons when teams are real good. Whatever does comparing mean I don't know, I was just trying to make a point. Again, don't hate the player even if you hate his fans.
You entered a thread titled "I'll save you the trouble regarding Lin." And you wanna tell me you're done talking about him? Fair enough. Have a nice day.
You don't need to tell me something that I know. The point is, if a certain player has some annoying fans, would you hate that certain player? That's what's unhealthy.
Thats going to be proof? You can't make the sweeping statement that it's haters that start on Lin. I could just as easily say that its his fans who always change thread topics to Lin. For example, there are numerous occasions where LOFs go nuts when the Rockets win but Lin didn't play as much as they would have liked him to, so they start trashing on the players and coaches. I think these incidents are well known throughout clutchfans, and if you require proof of these incidents then I would question whether you have been around clutchfans long enough to make your initial accusation that haters start on Lin in most threads. If you do recall these incidences then you should be aware that LOFs are at least equally responsible for starting on Lin.
It depends on the level of the player, if it's a hall of famer like Haekeem then no how do you hate them? You'll most likely join them. But when it's a player like Lin that is getting an undeserved superstar treatment? Just stop bringing up Hakeem, he is nothing like Lin.
Sure that's true. I certainly never claimed that they are the same. (I'm not gonna repeat what I said several times about the point I was trying to make) The thing is, it is what it is. Fans like whom they like. Fans don't have to like the best athletes who have accomplish the most. Kobe does have many fans but we wouldn't be like "people have to like him since he's so good." Lin does have good character and charisma. He is a proven winner and he plays an exciting brand of b-ball. Linsanity was an unique event in the history of b-ball. I think it's much better for people to understand it rather than hate it. Lastly, I must say that I'm not very fond of the "all I care is win and if this player helps our team win I'm his fan if he isn't producing I hate him." I am not saying you're like that but I'm certainly seeing it around.
