Royce White should not be earning a single dime in the NBA. He is a disgrace to the league and embarrassment to the teams.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>The Royce White Era May End Before It Starts <a href="http://t.co/WgJAJjHggW">http://t.co/WgJAJjHggW</a></p>— Liberty Ballers (@Liberty_Ballers) <a href="https://twitter.com/Liberty_Ballers/statuses/355077341187280899">July 10, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> ^^Maybe he doesn't have to report if Philly is just planning to cut him, which I suspected from the beginning.
What jocar said might be a little extreme. But it is not hard to see White is going to have a better future in Philly because of Philly's location and rebuilding process. Because Philly is adjacent to 5 other teams, White really doesn't have to teleport himself to the games. Adding to the fact that Philly is likely to tank in the coming season, White might actually make it to the rotation.
My guess is that White will show up for the physical within the time limit given. He was apparently at an Iowa State event today. Also, teams always have the option of waiving a physical on a player. So, if indeed Philly did this deal to eat $1.7M owed to White mainly for Aldemir's rights, then they may well waive that physical and let the trade go through anyway.
This may honestly be the best situation for Royce and Philly. No reason to deal with accommodations if they don't need to. The prospect of being moved around and cut like a random NBA scrub has got to be incredibly damning. This could very well be the wake up call Royce needs to get back on the court. If you told me after summer league last year that a tanking team trying to meet the min NBA salary wouldn't be willing to even take a flyer on Royce for only 1 yr of $1.7 mill, I'd tell you to #BeWell
This. If this was any other GM, I'd be semi-scared of the trade not going through. But Hinke is as certain as Morey in regards to White's actual status. I'm quite sure he doesn't give a f*** whether White checks in or not. He'll just withhold White's check and save his owner some money.
? Am I making up the Trade rumors ? Who do you think is gonna be starting if we get rid of Lin. No way we would get rid of someone like Beverley who is a complete steal on his contract compared to Lin.
Philly didn't trade for Royce. They got cash to cover White's salary & Aldemir who was said to be first round talent if not for his then buyout amount on draft day. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2013/07/10/royce-white-philadelphia-76ers-anxiety/2507525/
http://www.csnhouston.com/video Yes. He said in the CSN interview that he thinks the hold up is the conference call scheduled with the league lawyer for approval that is probably the holdup. Said it might not happen till sometime today. I dont think it has anything to do with the physical. Most likely Hinkie does not care if Royce White has degenerative knees or something other wierd ailment that might impact his career in 5 years. He's probably going to be lucky to get a training camp invite.
