Not so excited about these moves (other than DH of course) but the Delfino signing last year was a head scratcher as well as many have already pointed out. Seems to me like Morey is looking for his own Danny Green type of reclamation project. Hope at least one of these guys pan out.
Garcia is kinda proven though. Among Covington, Casspi and Reggie they hope one of those go berserk and hit on a high note
My bad...Garcia earned a spot after his playoff performance. He was a boss. Fingers crossed he can stay healthy. I should have mentioned him. I meant these other unproven guys. I'm still curious why they didn't offer Delfino the room exception. Makes me think they hope to reel in a bigger fish at a discount. Fingers crossed.
Besides Garcia and Dwight, all of the Rocket's new acquisitions have been labeled as really bad defenders. I don't know about this....
I like saving the room exception for later. Never know who will get a buy out around the trade deadline or even the market opening up for a Gary Neal or whoever
How did Delfino seemed washed up? His career was at his highest in Houston! He was most known as that role player that dunked on superstar Kevin Durant. Horrible post.......
His knee was hurt while with the bobcats....plus on a bad team....he will have wide open shots here and will quickly be a fan favorite. This guy can flat out shoot , has above average offensive skills. He can ball...good signing and for cheap too!
Another scrub like Casspi...Hopefully both can at least keep their respective seats on the bench warm.
Damn why people mad at this signing? Only half his contract is guaranteed so we can drop him anytime we want. Bringing this guy in to shoot open 3s. He has proven he can do that at a very high rate. All we need him to do is get hot a few games to keep defenders honest. I see all these questions about his defensive rating and all of that. NONE of that matters. He won't even be playing that long. 5-15 minutes some games if he is hot. Damn people, we can't put together all-stars and near all-stars at every spot on the team. We dealing with league minimum deals now so you bring in guys that do one thing well.
I think Tyrus is done in the NBA. Are he and Stromile Swift secretly the same person? I'll tell you what, if Tyrus Thomas officially changes his name to Stromile Swift Jr., then I would advocate him being signed -- just for laughs.
Actually, it seems like only a quarter of his contract is guaranteed -- and even then it is league minimum I think. So yeah, I agree with you that this is not a bad signing. Cap wise, seems like someone who it is worth to pay in order to get a good look at in preseason. Then, if he is no good, cut him and go a different direction. I think the negative comments on the move are not about this move but about the fact that it is not a player who is certain to help the team, and the backup for Harden is still not established. If we could use the room exception to bring in Gary Neal or Nick Young, or if we could get a good veteran for the minimum people would get excited. Deals for players like Omri or Williams, which it is quite plausible might not pan out, make people a little nervous about who is going to come off the bench.
