No, the mini-mid level is for teams over the tax line. The room exception is in play when a team uses their available cap space prior.
What i think the rotation would look like if we stayed pat. Lin(28), Beverley(20) Harden(36), Garcia(8), Lin(4) Parsons(34), Garcia(14) Jones(20), Smith(12), Motiejunas(10), Howard (6) Howard(26), Asik(22) Every position has a really solid rotation besides the 4 spot on our team right now. If were signing another wing player he better be prepared to sit on the bench until injury or foul trouble. No need to sign someone like brewer or Lee. Asik will get plenty of minuets behind Howard, they'd only have to play about 5 minuets together. Our 5 spot would be simply insane, by far the best in the league. The 4 is the problem, Is Jones, Motiejunas or Smith ready to be a starter? Can we feel safe giving any of them a guaranteed 20 minuets a night? We have to hope all of our young 4's are ready to step up.
Rockets have a two year window before Chandler Parsons gets his big Rockets contract to acquire another superstar and create really a big four! (Harden, Howard, Parsons, ?) Asik, Future 1st round picks and young talent (Canaan, Jones/Motiejunas) should be more than enough to make it happen Obviously it would be for either a PG or PF, I just don't know who. LMA, Love, Rondo, Conley, Bosh are probably contenders. Pair that with quality vets (Battier/Ray Allen type players) going after titles instead of money to fill out the bench and the future is really bright. HOUSTON vs MIAMI NBA FINALS 2015
Great post. Thanks a lot. It's gonna be an exciting year. I also think we should keep Omer. It's a no-brainier in my opinion.
1. We don't need Love to become competitive. We already are. Setting our plans around Love isn't about keeping Dwight, it's about becoming favorites to win it all, as opposed to mere contenders. 2. The Wolves are not going to wait for Love to become a FA and lose him for nothing. The writing is on the wall. Love has stated first hand, management needs to do something or he is out. And that something ain't Kevin Martin. Anything short of deep postseason runs to the conference finals or he is gone. Which means, he is gone. The Wolves will trade him in 1 season, not 2016. 3. "Questionable health"? Hopefully the rest of the NBA views him this way as well, particularly the Twolves. Personally, there is hardly anything questionable or worrisome about a 24 year old who suffered merely a broken hand. We aren't talking about an ACL tear, and even then people here still want Rondo.
No way in hell Morey pays Parsons $10 mil. I'd bet he makes close to $7 or $8 million. He'd have to have some crazy improvement to get that kind of offer. Like be in the conversation with Paul George as a player (on a national level, and not just ClutchFans).
Anyone know if Houston plans on bringing in Papanikolaou? I was looking at this player's highlights and he looks very intriguing.
I'd bet he makes more than 10 mil. Morey would sign him to a max deal if need be. Parsons can go nowhere else.
Nice effort on this post. I like the way you think. Only things I worry about your rotation is the mess at the PF position. I think we need consistency there. I would look for T-Jones or D-Mo to claim that spot and the losers to not get much playing time if any at all. I think you hedged instead of going with a clear winner. Garcia swinging between SG and SF is ok but I would like for us to try (pick up) a pure 3pt shooter at SG. The 6 min. Dwight plays at PF is about right, could be more against teams like the Grizzlies. If Dwight doesn't improve his FT% Asik could play the 6-2min period of the 4th quarter.
Why don't we take a shot at a veteran PF like Kenyon Martin? I think he will take the veterans minimum! We already added another shooter in Reggie Williams so that's taken care of! Kenyon Martin would be a great fit on this team! He can space the floor, provide leadership for our young PF, grab rebounds, and he has been to the Western conference finals as well!
You are going to have to move Asik by the end of next season. He's a starting center and won't stay on this team when his contract ends. So I think if you don't move Asik now, that's fine - let's see how the team plays for a half season. But it would be crazy not to move him by the trade deadline or sooner. His value is peaking now.
Where do the Rockets sit honestly? They have the leagues best center and SG in Howard and Harden (OK if you want to quibble the best or the next to best). They have the best back up center in the league with Asik - or one hell of a trade chip. The Rockets have a well above average SF combo. PG also with Lin and Beverly. PF looks to be weak but as a tandem DMo and Jones will hold their own. It is important to remember that the backups will be on the court for about 16 minutes a game. I am nothing if not optimistic. Also in the Rockets corner is Morey. Nuff said. McHale is completely under appreciated. I trust him to play to the roster's strengths. Much better than Zen Master and D'Antonio, coaches that have seen much support at CF. I do not feel bold in predicting that the Rockets will be a force in the league for at least the next 4 years.
