Interesting. Since the Rockets won't sign him until their other moves are cleared, maybe his agent told him not to play until he gets a contract in case of injury.
Aaron Brooks was pretty good...That Parsons guy is alright...Carl Landry is ok... And 30 GM's didn't pass on him. Not sure how many actually did, but we took him with our first pick. We never passed on him. Also, A GM might not have taken him at #10 overall, but if they had #27 you never know.
Why should Canaan take less? He doesn't have to give us more than 1 year at $490k. Even Ohlbrecht got a better deal than $570k and he is not ready to contribute. Maybe never ready. Honestly getting him to sign for a CP type deal is such a big move in our favor. CP knows he is being screwed right now. He b****es about it often to Morey. Landry was much smarter in signing a 1 year deal and then forcing a 3 mil deal the next year. If I am Canaan's agent that's all I agree to unless Houston can give me at least a CP deal. Comparing him to Garcia is apples and oranges. First Garcia while having some interest no one stepped up with a real offer. Second he is a 9 year vet and gets the max amount and third he got a 1 year player option which Morey never gives which means Morey must be telling him if you play any good at all you can opt out and we will re-up you for more money. Parsons doesn't have any of those options and basically has one of the sh!tiest contracts in the league. And you want Canaan to take that contract but start at $570k to start. If I'm Canaan and my agent accepts that I'd fire him.
Interview with Canaan today. Bev and GSmith made cameos lol http://www.csnhouston.com/rockets/1-1-rookie-isaiah-canaan
Those cameos were hilarious. I wonder if they got him one of those mortifying backpacks yet that they make the rooks carry as initiation.
You don't need inside info to see Howard signs 4 yr 88 mil deal with a player opt out after 3 yrs compared to chandler's 4 yr lest than 1 mil a year with no player option ever. He signed it so he has to live with it but it is a ****ty contract and while you might not be smart enough to see it he certainly knows it. P.S. While he knows he is being short changed he's a good guy who isn't complaining to much about it. Gotta love him for that P.S.S. Just watched interview on this Canaan kid. He seems like a great kid. maybe he takes $570k. I wouldn't but he seems like he is so excited about being a part of the team. He is going to be our starter down the road. Ok Lin could breakout and I haven't seen this kid once so that may be premature. But I am excited about the possibilities.
You said "he often b****es about it to Morey", how can you say that if you don't have any inside? That's making stuff up and acting like Parsons is a problem that constantly clashes with Morey.
And PS get out with the "while you're not smart enough to see it" comment, that's disrespectful and totally missing the point. Everyone knows he is underpaid, but my remarks were about you making stuff up that happens between him and Morey.
Well, Morey has said something to allude to the fact that Parsons has asked at least a couple of times if there was a way for Rockets to rework his contract.
Holy crap that was the most I've ever heard Greg smith talk, and I was lmao when he just approached from the back all giddy like.
That doesn't mean he's "b****ing" though, to me it seems like Parsons loves this organization and knows Morey will work things out soon enough.
Canaan says he might be back by the end of the week (last summer league game). <iframe src="http://player.theplatform.com/p/zT2_HC/iEazkwCwmKPM/embed/select/r8fHWDJvsAsg?params=zone%3Drockets&autoPlay=false" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="270" width="480">Your browser does not support iframes.</iframe>
Just because you out play your contract does not mean you are being screwed. Who is screwing him (besides every Houston lady)?
