I always loved the fans in Houston. They always support the team, support the players. The fans are not so critical of the players.”

Yao was asked if Howard and Harden can be the championship combination the Rockets hoped he and Tracy McGrady could be before injuries took over. But he wasn’t interested in that comparison.

“That is living in the past,” Yao said. “Our time is gone. It is time to look forward.”

I like how Yao is humble, truthful, and at peace with his tenure.

He doesn't care about what if scenarios. I respect him for that.

Also you can tell his love for Houston is real.

    Yao is real.

Ironic tinny is praising Yao for not living in the past when he lives in the Rockets glory days 24/7.

Even after retiring Yao is still looking out for the Rockets recruiting Howard. Big thank you to the Big Fella.

If the Rockets were to win a ring in the foreseeable future, would you guys be ok if Yao got a ring?

Yao specifically was talking about Yao/Tmac combo not winning a championship.

Hakeem Olajuwon was involved in Dwight Howard coming to Houston.

Why would they send the worst possible example in Tracy McGrady to recruit him?

Dwight is a diva, we know, but McGrady is Mariah Carey and Niki Manaj combined

and one more thing, Clutch City is FOREVER. you seem to not get that .

Not sure what the point is...I love Yao, but giving someone a ring is iffy. If it were an "honorary" type ring, and was made to reflect that, I'd be ok with it, but giving someone, even Yao, a championship ring when he didn't play for it doesn't sit well with me. It might be presumptuous, but I don't know that Yao would want a ring that he didn't earn.

I honestly can't choose. Dwight doesn't compare to Shaq, Yao or Hakeem in any way whatsoever except that he is a center. Harden I guess u could say he's a comparable scorer, maybe, but all 3 guards here were arguably the top 1-3 defensive SG's of their time... I'd say don't compare them, because they really can't. Those 6 guys in the pole didn't have flaws, were transcendent players. Dwight and Harden are just the best in their position in todays's NBA, I guess that comparison would be like Kobe/Shaq.

    1. Yao is content with his NBA tenure.

    2. Clutch and Jeff deserve a ring for saving the franchise from moving.

no ring. invite him to the party. maybe even the parade. Put him and Clyde, Hakeem, Murph on the same truck to show some love to the past.

I honestly think a healthy Yao/Tmac would have been the bester SG Center tandem in NBA history. But alas they never reached their full potential due to injury. If only they had the health of Kobe/Shaq.

Has to be the third option.

Howard isn't finesse at all like Hakeem and Yao, but more power, like Shaq.

Harden's passing ability isn't on Tracy's level yet.
