don't know why so many hate comcast. I love comcast and wish I can get it at my condo. Never had any problems in nearly a decade with them

Today's 2 PM CST NBATV Rox-Celtics broadcast (blacked-out) is being re-broadcast at 7 PM CST.

Anyone know if the 7 PM replay will also be blacked out in Houston?

I hate how when I last had Comcast they sent me a bill months after I had left claiming that I still had some of their equipment. When I showed them the equipment returned receipt, they begrudgingly backed off - but only for a month or so. I then got another letter threatening legal action. I called again to see why this was still a problem, and the person on the phone told me that they believed it was a fake receipt and that I really still had their equipment. W.T.F. After a few more months of battling them, they finally relented for good - kind of. Comcast themselves stopped contacting me, but some third party debt collectors started calling me on Comcast's behalf claiming that I owed them money. I left Comcast 3 years ago and still receive calls from those debt collectors about this shizz.

So, yeah, that's why I hate Comcast.

I also hate the shady contractors they use to install your cable/internet who show up in generic clothes and unmarked vehicles, often times featuring sh**-tastic ghetto chrome rims. Uverse actually sends Uverse employees who are normal people. And their phone customer service is far superior too. That is kind of a big deal to me.

But with all that said, I'll likely switch back to Comcast in the coming months, as I needs me Rockets and I don't see this CSN issue getting settled anytime soon.

A lot of what you mentioned above is a holdover from the old Time Warner Cable days (who were in Houston for decades till Comcast took over). Same employees who come and install things... same stupid equipment "leases"... same inept employees at their random location service distribution centers.

Within the last year, I've seen differences in the company that I hope are for the better. As far as service calls though, there's no more unmarked vans (not sure for the people who are a new install in a non cable-ready house, if those still exist), you can do far more options automatically over the phone or online (reset signals, your current equipment and its status is listed)... and the biggest improvement I've seen is their service stores now located in legitimate places (anyone else remember the old TWC shack where you had to go pick up cable boxes?).

These stores actually serve to market new technology/equipment... something that was severely lacking in the Houston market. I also like the fact that if something goes wrong with a modem/box, I can just take it in (rather than having to mail it back and wait on it... like the satellite companies).

If Uverse was offered where I am, I'd probably have gone with them all along... but its not. I don't mind the 40mb/s downloads on comcast internet either.

If they can completely break away from the old TWC way of doing things, you'll find some improvements in the overall experience.

i had an almost identical experience after being with them for more than a decade through sub-par non-responsive customer service and frustration. I still have something at a debt collector for a mystery charge. I dropped them 20 days before the Rocket's 2012 season started :eek::(

That's why i left Cumcast. DirecTV rocks. I wish i could watch the Rox though.

Good luck with that, it's a good chance that'll deny you on the basis of you still "owing them money" and try to make you pay it first. Or come and connect you, then in a month or two, thier "Risk Management Dept" will send you a notice saying pay X amount by X date or your service will be disconnected. That's exactly what happened to me, slightly diff scenario as I was a long time customer with an account that was always in good standing.

Been there, done that. I recently had Comcast Internet re-connected after 3 years of using Verizon DSL, but had to have a relative with a diff last name open the account. Comcast is a VERY shameless company that flat out doesn't give a eff about you. They know that eventually, one way or another, there's a good chance that thier service may end up being your best or only option.

The reason I hate comcast is because their customer service is horrible. I remember the last few months I had them I tried over and over to get my internet fix. It was crazy though because each time I had to wait over two hours on the phone to find resolutions. Most of the representatives were blaming me saying I had two modems hooked up (which I didn't) and then when they couldn't find a resolution, they would transfer me into some line that would automatically hang up on me.

When I tried to cancel, that was also a hell of a time. I gave them all their **** back and they still had idiotic questions about the stupid modem that I never got from them. I don't understand how the company can be filled with idiots. I would always tell them that they can check on their records that I told I them I would do a self-install using my own modem so they never actually sent me equipment. Their only response was that I was lying.

I really do truly hate comcast. They are a POS company that seems to give mostly everyone bad experiences. It seems to be rare to find someone like you that's actually had a decent experience.

    That sounds about right.

I just hope that threatening to leave Uverse will have them grant me a deal so good that I am able to put up with streams for this season too.

think about it... these people are rockets fans and their experience with comcast is too bad that they're willing to sacrifice not watching the games....

i dont mind paying more, in fact, i almost subscribed last season, i called them and they freaking did not show up on installation day that we agreed without calling me. I took the day off only to waste it. F-CUK COMCRAP.

Is this even a possibility? Can you keep Dish for all rooms and just have Crapcast in 1?

I wouldn't mind having 1 Crapcast DVR in my gameroom (where I used to watch games when they were actually on TV), but I wouldn't pay more than $30/month for it. And that includes all the extra charges they would no doubt add on.

I looked into this. With HD and a DVR it came to $50 plus tax with a contract. Not worth it for me.

It can actually work if you want to use their internet as well.

I'm going to be dropping their internet I think for ATT short term if I can get that darn setup fee waived. Then go back in October. Their bundle prices make it a nice deal.

I called Comcast for the digital preferred 160+ plus, and the woman refused to tell me if the rockets game is in that plan after five minute talk, my first impression with Comcast is very bad. I may stay direct TV for without watching the games.

You are better off not having the headache. I love the Rockets but dealing with Comcast is that bad that I will never switch. If I have to stream for the rest of the contract then so be it.

I remember hearing this last season.

Then it was: it will happen right before the first game!

Then: 10-15 games into the season!

Then: once the Astros' season starts!

So I'll believe it when I see it.

With that said, I just got off the phone with Uverse and will stay with them until I can no longer tolerate missing Rockets games.

I switched to comcast last season. It was cheap and the CSNHouston was on the basic digital package. $50+$10 for the receiver. Got HBO free for 3 months. I pay $95 for TV and high speed Internet. I haven't had any problems.

Obviously, a Comcast rep. Comcast sucks, it's not like its one provider giving them issues, its all of them. Who has the problem?

NBA League pass connecting through a proxy server on your desktop or laptop, done. Forget ComCrap!
