They are starving themselves in protest of having been denied due process. I don't know how you figured it's hate. they are trying to bring attention to their situation
Just eating would probably be the least painful, and the most pleasant. Remember when Obama was going to fix this...
How do you "fix" this? Let them starve to death and then be labeled as heartless. Force feed them and then be labeled as heartless. Let them go and then risk one of them do something terrible and risk American lives and commit political suicide. This is exactly why hunger strikes can be very successful IF attention is given to their plight.
Too bad congress stopped Obama when he tried to close it. He could try again, though I don't see congress being any more cooperative this time.
As of last month, he's trying again: http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/201...ses-lawyer-to-oversee-guantanamo-closure?lite
Monster's Ball, Be Kind Rewind, Cadillac Records. dude's been a working actor since he was a teenager. I only wish I saw him in the Broadway Play, Topdog/Underdog, with Jeffrey Wright, or his other acclaimed theater work.
He did okay in that movie with Bruce Willis. I forget the name. I think it's called something like "9 blocks" .
I didn't want to get into this yesterday cause i was not sure but some of these guys have basically been cleared but we have no where to send. them. they and the govt know they should be freed. they are martyrs some have lost eleven years of their lives . when you look up cluster f in the dictionary there is a picture of gitmo
It would be nice to charge them with a specific crime and follow the typical legal system (due process), though. It's not the force-feeding that disturbs me so much, but the extralegal way that Guantanamo goes about things.
