Hate to open up old wounds, but how bad was it when Randy Johnson
    and Carlos Beltran bolted Houston?

Don't remember the Randy Johnson thing but I was very upset when Beltran left. I probably still hold a grudge but I think the year after he signed with the Mets he stunk it up so it wasn't all that bad.

Aint even mad. It was a fun year for the Stros. Plus I was one of those bandwaggoners that came out of nowhere and started to act like I knew baseball that year.

It was so bad that there were strong rumors of even Kobe bailing out on L.A. if it didn't get better.

Lakers have always been down in history as one of the most (if not the most) ridiculous fans in sports period. Proving this statement true with this thread

Grew up in LA, all of my kin folks are lakers fan.. I can tell you first hand, they are the most obnoxious, cockiest, the most annoying fanbase ever.. Lakers can suck for eternity, they'll always bring up 16 blah blah blah, when 5 of those ship were won in Minnesota, 6 when majority of the fanbase wasn't even interest in basketball, and then 5 in the Kobe era, but before that they were all Bulls fan.

Lakers fan progression of the year with Dwight.
Beginning of season: Yayyy we traded for Dwight! Now we got Kobe, Nash, Gasol, MWP, and Dwight CHAMPIONSSSSSS!
Towards middle of season: We're not going to make the playoffs and it's all because of Dwight!
End of season: Yayy Lakers made playoffs, no thanks to Dwight though.
Playoffs: Yayy playoffs! We're gonna sweep the Spurs with Dwight and Gasol!
Got swept by the Spurs: IT'S ALL DWIGHTS FAULT. WE COULD HAVE GONE TO THE FINALS.
Offseason: Mannn we don't need Dwight, we got MWP, Gasol and Nash and Kobe are gonna come back even stronger and better.
Dwight Leaves to Houston: Man **** Dwight. We didn't even want you back, but we're gonna keep being butthurt over it.

Who? The same Randy Johnson we got for the stretch run in 1998, when the National League Astros were 102-60 and won the Central Division? Yeah, he was an enormous amount of fun to watch, and I'm very glad that I got to see him pitch, but I think most people realized that he was a rental. Had the team made it to the World Series, which many of us expected, perhaps he would have stayed. I certainly wasn't surprised when he didn't. I would have done the whole thing again, given the chance. He was worth it. Don't see the comparison. Butthole Beltran? Yeah, he was a wanker. Still, just one player amongst many. Baseball is just too different from basketball to make honest comparisons like this, in my opinion. :)-

The Lakers? Still stunned, still crying in their lattes.
