It's an extreme and ignorant position on a controversial issue. Some would say the same thing regarding the congressman who apologized to BP. Even they (BP) had their supporters and they remain a top 10 company based on annual revenue. There's a fundamental difference between these comparisons as well. The BP event was and needed to be national news. This event should have been a local story at best. Since the dumb Twitter post went viral, their followers have increased as well as the likes of that post but you're right, the attention is hurting them.
