What do you guys think about Brandan Wright? He seemed to be a gamechanger for Dallas against us.

He could be useful if we trade Asik. We could use that 2-3mill exception for him. Thoughts?

Doesn't rebound. Good scorer, but always get feeling that he just isn't helping his team win even when he is putting up good numbers.

if I recall what Bima wrote, for every dollar the salary cap goes up, Harden gets $0.25 of it

Next year we will be capped but not at the tax, so we might be able to get a pretty good veteran player with our MLE. We will also be able to sign and trade for a max level player with Lin + Asik + other filler if any other stars want to join up in Houston.

Jeremy Lin, Omer Asik, Terrence Jones and the NYK 2014 2nd round draft pick for

    Al Horford and Jeff Teague.

    Who says no?

Atlanta receives: Omer Asik, Terrence Jones, future 1st, 2014 2nd (NYK)
    Houston receives: Al Horford

Does Atlanta consider that? That's a lot of value.

Is that enough space to sign Canaan to a Parsons deal too?

Why does Atlanta trade Al Horford?
If we trade Harden for Horford, maybe Ferry will consider that, but......

This belongs in the trade ideas thread.

We are giving too much away, especially T-Jones and the picks. Asik straight up for Horford is the only way I'd do this and even then I think Asik > Horford. Atlanta will never give up Horford, they are building a team around him.

No. We would need to trade or waive Smith to get in the $800-900k area.

We should do that. Smith is useless.

So, after trades, releasing Ohlbrect and Anderson, we sign Dwight and cap looks like this I believe:

    Player: Yrs. ('13-'14) Current ('13)
    Howard 4 $20,513,178
    Harden 5 $13,701,250
    Parsons 2 $926,500
    Lin 2 $8,374,646
    Asik 2 $8,374,646
    Jones 3 $1,551,840
    Motiej 3 $1,422,720
    Beverley 2 $884,293
    Smith 1 $884,293
    Cap Hold $490,180
    Cap Hold $490,180
    Cap Hold $490,180

    Total $58,103,906
    Cap Room $575,094
    Tax $13,644,094

We can use that extra $575,094 to lock Canaan up to 4yr deal with team options on last 2 yrs, much like Parsons' contract. Don't know if he will get all of it, but since Rockets won't do anything else with that room, we will assume he gets $1,065,274 (490,180+575,094). That puts cap room at $0.

Then we sign Casspi and Garcia to their minimum deals, and finally our cap looks like this:

    Player: Yrs. ('13-'14) Current ('13)
    Howard 4 $20,513,178
    Harden 5 $13,701,250
    Parsons 2 $926,500
    Lin 2 $8,374,646
    Asik 2 $8,374,646
    Jones 3 $1,551,840
    Motiej 3 $1,422,720
    Beverley 2 $884,293
    Smith 1 $884,293
    Canaan 4 $1,065,274
    Garcia 2 $1,265,977
    Casspi 2 $947,907

    Total $59,912,524
    Cap Room -$1,233,524
    Tax $11,835,476

That is 12 players. The only thing Rockets have left are the room exception of $2,652,000 and minimum contracts. Neither of which will come close to the tax level.

Obviously, I will let Bima check this all out, but I'm pretty sure this is right. If not, I apologize.

No The Parons deal was 1 mil a year. Canaan's deal will come in at half that
