USA vs Belize When: Tuesday, July 9, 11 p.m. ET Where: Jeld-Wen Field, Portland, Ore. Watch: FOX Soccer
A little over a week out from WCQ resuming. Sept 6th - Honduras @ Mexico 8:30 p.m. Jamaica @ Panama 9 p.m. USA @ Costa Rica - 7 pm, BEin Sports Sept 10th - Mexico @ USA - 7 pm, ESPN Costa Rica @ Jamaica - 7 pm Panama @ Honduras - 7 pm I would expect the US v Costa Rica game to get nasty quick. I'd imagine there is still some butt-hurt from the snow game earlier this year. The CR fans are notoriously rough but this could get real ugly. Rosters have not yet been announced. I firmly expect Juregen to call in Donovan this time around, especially with the form that he's been in. I wonder if he'll bring in Dempsey. He didn't play this summer and hasn't looked particularly in good shape so far for Seattle. I bet he does get the call, but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. Another note...Donovan has re-signed with the LA Galaxy for 4 years. Terms haven't been released but I'm sure he'll be somewhere near the top with Dempsey and Keane.
I have never rated Dempsey as high as Donovan - he is a good player but he is going to miss the service he got in the premier league. DD
The roster has been released. http://www.ussoccer.com/teams/us-men/latest-roster/130829-training-camp.aspx
I'm a fan of who was all called up. Except Beckerman but Jones and Bradley both have yellows so I get it.
Looks like we are sending our A Team. Great to build on our form while also bringing some youth in Brooks + Johannson. Go USA!
My preference is starting Cameron in the middle with Bradley. That worked beautifully earlier this year because it gives Bradley the freedom to roam and push forward. With Jones, Bradley has to stay back to cover for Jones' defensive liabilities.
He deserved it, he showed more creativity against a good team than most of the American players have to offer.
Holy crap, this is going to be tough for y'all! Instagram video from Omar Gonzalez of the team arrival: Spoiler <iframe src="//instagram.com/p/d0jRa6O4xQ/embed/" width="612" height="710" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true"></iframe> Cabbies in San José have agreed to bring traffic to a halt when the U.S. team drives in. Mother #(*##ers! From: http://deadspin.com/costa-rica-is-trolling-the-****-out-of-the-usmnt-1252737050 <- replace **** with the four-letter word that means 'feces.' I think that with this team y'all got, y'all can pull off the win.
I wouldn't have expected any less. It's a pretty crazy atmosphere when they don't feel like they're out for revenge. It will be loud. It will be crazy, It's a crappy field. Stuff will be thrown at them. But, if there's a US team that's prepared for it, it's this one.
Good job Costa Ricans pissing the US off, they are on a mission and are going to take it out on them on Friday
Crazy how passionate and yet irrational other countries are when it comes to this sport. Even here in America for our top sports you don't see entire cities trying to conspire against opposing teams.
First, I'm not defending the Costa Ricans here but this is different. Here in the states there really isn't a worldwide competition for the top 3 sports (Football, baseball, basketball). Let's say there was a world cup of football and let's assume, for arguments sake, that the US wouldn't annihilate everyone, I'm quite certain that there would be plenty of rowdy fans here in the US.
