I'll donate $50 to the tip jar if one of y'all finds his car and puts a dead squirrel underneath the windshield wiper. Another $50 if you get a pic of his reaction.
He's a fool and a blowhard. 90% of that was him trying to explain his way out of comments he has made with Lord taking the remaining 10% reminding him of his own words. And with regards to "luck" and Darryl Morey... Luck happens every day to someone and almost everyone has at some point benefited from luck. It has NOTHING to do with how skilled you are at your profession. Morey is DAMN good at his job. Innes...not so much.
I thought for sure when 610 got a new program director they would push josh out but no luck as of yet, so I'll stick with Charlie on the drive home
Rich Lord deserves better... Stopped listening to that station specifically because of Josh. He belongs on FM morning radio
Yeah, it really does. It's so bad sometimes it's embarrassing. A couple months ago they had JJ Watt on the phone, and the first thing Josh did was ask him if he was "nailing" Miley Cyrus (or some other teeny bopper pop star). You have to feel bad for Rich Lord being stuck with such a twit.
Lord seems like a genuinely nice guy off the air, but for someone whose profession is sports journalism, he's incredibly lazy. He doesn't watch much sports, and the insight that he provides is pretty shallow. Compared to Innes however, he's Charlie Palillo on Adderal.
What's the point when Innes is your co host and most certainly the last thing you'll be talking about is sports.
When they had Royce's latest baby mama on the phone recently (and on the air, naturally), well, let's just say that while I do think the lady was a little disingenuous in her answers (I mean, she had unprotected sex with a rich guy, and now she's just another baby mama), she was there for a serious interview, not as a comedy bit. I could have done without Josh Innes asking: "So, how was Royce in the sack?" I turned it off before I could hear Rich Lord chastise him for being a mega-d***.
Then how do you explain Rich Lord's 20+ years in that timeslot? Rich is the epitome of a safe middle-man. I have heard him stop talking about something because he thought his wife would not approve (stuff completely unrelated to his wife, mind you). How the hell do you treat an audience like that? I initially liked Josh Innes on the radio when I first heard him. He was trying to emulate Howard Stern on a number of levels (with slight success) and I was finding it refreshing. When he started talking Rockets basketball was when I couldn't stand him. He just comes across as an ahole, instead of being a witty and likable ahole like Howard Stern can be. I cannot stand to listen to the guy now. His jokes just annoy me. I completely switched away from 610 a while ago. I sometimes switch back for a few minutes and it's always terrible. I just cannot listen to Josh Innes rant anymore, and Rich Lord is the poster boy for Radio Hack. And for the record...the horrible sex joke sounds that Josh Innes made were completely unfunny and something that Howard Stern would never do. It just wasn't funny at all, but Rich Lord calling him out on it as being completely predictable was the best thing I've ever heard Rich say.
I'd say Lord is a middle-aged corporate drone. He's been at it awhile, safe job, piled up the vacation. He won't rock the boat. Innes needs to go play in traffic.
It's hard to even believe that Josh Innes is a real person, and not some kind of Andy Kaufmann type persona used to just piss everyone off. His willingness to regularly spurn reason or criticism resembles a character from It's Always Sunny or Arrested Development, only it turns out he's just one of the delusional scumbags the characters were written to mock.
There's not enough time to explain how bad Josh Innes is as a sports radio host in Houston (maybe he could succeed elsewhere). I just hope this latest blow-up gets him fired and they bring in somebody competent.
