The only way to keep the full MLE is to make trades that keep you from using cap space. IOW, we have to make multiple trades using the +$5 million rule and the +150% rule and the +125% rule. You can't do a S&T for Dwight sending out $2 million and bringing him back. That is a trade that uses cap space and therefore causes us to lose the full MLE and BAE opportunity. At this point, all the free agents that we would possibly want to consider with that full MLE are gone. AND...we got Garcia back at league minimum. That was HUGE when it comes to having a bench and not having the full MLE. Garcia is almost the equivalent of Miami signing Battier with their MLE in 2011. And we've still got the Room MLE left. So, keeping the full MLE and the BAE is simply not going to happen at this point. The big time free agents (Josh Smith and possibly Paul Millsap) that we may have been able to acquire through sign-and-trades in combination with a sign-and-trade of Dwight have already agreed to sign elsewhere. The only reason for us to do a sign-and-trade at this point is if LA is willing to give us something of value back. They either have to take Jeremy or they have to give us future picks and possibly a youngster like Goudelock. Otherwise there is no incentive for us to hand them a TPE.
Point of Mathloom's post is he is skeptical LAL would do the deal to only get Lin. They'd want to at least get rid of Nash, which makes sense. And for moving Deng or Granger, those teams could get much better offers than simply TJones (or at least Deng would, based on the buzz about him a few weeks ago).
I thought LA signed Kaman and only gave him a 1 yr deal cause they want to keep flexibility for next year
and by doing this, you still need to go out there and get a backup 4/5, AND a starting PG with the cap room. and no, beverley is not a starting pg. who's still available? cap room is only useful if you know who you want and that player is available and will sign with you. if you get rid of asik and lin, what can you do with that cap room that would significantly upgrade your roster?
Beauty is in the mind of the beholder. Bulls may get offers they prefer to TJones. But TJones for Deng...does make a good amount of sense for both sides. I listed why. Will it happen? Probably not. Is it viable? Definitely.
Eh, sure beauty is technically subjective, but we all know, at some point it is really more objective. I could make a similar argument for virtually any player for Deng then lol. You've just lost too much credibility from your convoluted trade scenarios pre-Dwight that did not even come close to fruition
Of course you'd lose credibility if you throw outlandish trade scenarios out that people all disagreed with and you stuck to your guns on. If you were right, right now I'd view your trade scenarios in a different light. Since that isn't the case, obviously the opposite holds true. That isn't a maturity issue, that is a common sense issue. Not sure what you're even disagreeing with here. You make it sound as if I'm forcing you to NOT spew out your complicated trade scenarios, or that you should be banned for saying them or something lol. Not at all! Keep on chugging and plugging, just saying, due to your track record, I'm obviously going to put much less stock into them.
Man, someone is really easily butthurt and sensitive. It's okay -- I'm sure you still have friends who like you irl.
Nash is on his last leg in L.A.....lin might be good insurance policy.considering the garbage they will be next year, Jeremy could boost that team.
That and the facts that The Caveman could only 'command' a one-year deal and doesn't have a great talent level left (from whatever one perceives he ever did possess).
Here's my question about Caveman. That dude is on full r****d mode all the time. If Kobe couldn't handle Dwight's cutting up...what's he gonna do when Kaman walks in the locker room acting up?
So, the answer to the question essentially that doing an SnT really benefits only the Lakes, in this case, and not, like GSW, the Rox. Yes?
Yes...unless we get back something of value. Goudelock? draft picks? (LA doesn't have enough of them to spare) Or possibly a partial salary dump (Lin) that we can use to synergize another trade. But as far as pulling the MLE and BAE out of a sign-and-trade now? Won't happen. All the free agents that we would have possibly considered with the full MLE are history (Calderon) and all the other players that we would have considered in the second half of a sign-and-trade to stay above the cap (Josh Smith, Paul Millsap) are gone.
