I'd do it for their first round pick in next years draft. I don't mind banking on the Wizards being terrible especially going into such a deep talent pool in 2014. No way they take Lin

That's what jumped out at me in that photo too. He looks so much bigger proportionally despite being spread over a couple inches more in height, yet howard is listed heavier than asik- must be a more significant difference in body composition than I thought.

I'd still take asik in a fight.

    This.

Getting a potential lottery pick next summer would be huge. I doubt Washington trades their pick though.

Morey needs to continue to garner assets for a move that could be made way into the future. Kevin Love, LMA, Rondo. We need to get one of these guys. Having a rookie pan out like Parsons has would be nice too.

They wouldn't take Lin. They have Wall and just signed Eric Maynor to be their backup point.

If we lose that guy, for howard (as great as he is), that's going to suck. Maybe he'll eventually calm down & get over it? Sorry I haven't read 20 pages of this thread, hopefully that's already happened.

So still no new source to back up the claim that he wants to be traded?

I wish Asik or his agent would just come out and correct that ESPN lie.

The Rockets are in such a cozy position barring injury.

Some team will need a big man that doesn't necessarily need one today.

DM is patiently waiting for a great deal. Not just good.

Talent + upside + cap flexibility is what I would be looking for.

 I don't think Washington is going to trade Wall + Okafor for Lin + Asik.

I'm really hoping you just forgot to mention Wall, because otherwise Asik + Lin to Washington doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Morey has definitely had his eye on Nene in the past. Though, 3 years, 39m left is quite the price for a ~31 year old big man who has had about 4 healthy seasons his entire career, and has always seemed to be more potential than production.

That Wizards roster, outside of Wall, Beal, and newly drafted Porter, is pretty bleak.

Stephen A. Smith on First Take yesterday: "The Houston Rockets need to keep Omer Asik. If Dwight is the only big man, the Rockets are in trouble."

Ariza+unprotected 2014 first round pick would be too good to be true. As good as Asik is, defensive one-way player has limited trade value.

No bad team is going to trade an unprotected pick for Omer.

I hope we keep Omer. Dwight should be treated like Pops has treated Duncan the last few years. Keep his minutes down until the run up to the playoffs, and then unleash a healthy, rested Dwight Howard on the league, when the game slows down and it becomes more of a half court game. Asik will be very important then, as well, but the key, particularly this season, is to insure that Dwight's back is fully healed and ready for a deep run in the playoffs. A run to the Finals.

There's no reason to do so. One, Asik might actually welcome a trade. He did say last season for the Bulls to not match, which obviously means he wants to show he can start. Two, it's the offseason and this isn't exactly a pressing issue for Asik or his agent. And finally, I bet Morey has taken feelers on Asik, so it's not like the Rockets exactly want him badly. Morey simply haven't found a good enough trade.

THIS THIS THIS! In the playoffs, bigger is better. Each round could potentially go 7 games against the same team; it is a taxing, grinding, slug fest. You cannot run gimmicky offenses after playing someone for 4 games so what happens at game 5-7? Adjustments and simply mentally and physically outlasting the other team. This is why keeping Asik is so important. He and Howard can share a alot of minutes in the regular season, ensuring a higher chance that both he and Howard will be healthy by the time the playoffs come around.

IF we have to trade Asik, we need to bring in a banger with a jumper. A 4 that can play the 5 and give Dwight a breather and still punish the other 4/5 in the post. Examples: Serge Ibaka, Al Horford, Greg Monroe, DeMarcus Cousins (#BeWell). Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we can get them! I just listed them as examples of the types of players we should be looking for. We do not need to look for 2/3 players. Stephen A. Smith said it best, "The Houston Rockets need to keep Omer Asik. If Dwight is the only big man, the Rockets are in trouble."

Also let's distill this list to the playoff teams in the west last year

Thunder - often play durant at the 4

Spurs - leonard plays the 4

Denver - they play a variety of players at the 4, not sure this year

    Clips

    Memphis

GS - Now that AI is on board, you would think Barnes sees a lot more minutes at the 4.

You're looking at 4/6 of our main contenders playing a real stretch 4 these days, for lengths at a time.

Here is what I think we should do.

    1. Play Asik as a backup for half the year -- not like we are competing for the top seed, and our team as is will keep us in the playoff mix.
    2. Reevaluate our PFs at the deadline
    3. IF good, we have a lot of options
    4. IF bad, trade Asik for depth at both 4/5.
    3. Trade Asik at the deadline when there are more options around the league. WE also have a lot more leverage than we do now.

Some things to think about. Asik's value will go down from here on out. Less time he can contribute to his new team, while the team still has to pay him 15M the last year. Not many people are going to be happy with paying Asik 15m for one year of service, even though the caphit is only 8m.

There is just about no way we keep Asik beyond his last year, the only value he brings is our ability to SNT him for assets.

Leonard doesn't usually play the 4. It was to counter Lebron, who often times shifts over to the 4, similar to Melo. We're in the West, where playing small ball 4 is not as common for long stretches of time. Durant spends a good chunk of time at the 4, but the Heat and NYK are obviously not in our conference. TD spends most minutes at the 4 for the Spurs.

And just because Iggy went to GSW does not mean you should expect Barnes to spend a lot of time at the 4. Guy is 6-8, and they have David Lee. It is much more likely one of Barnes or Klay is relegated to the bench, playing a 6th man role behind Iggy, who can slot in at either the 2 or the 3.

So in reality, we're really only looking at, for certain, OKC having KD at the 4. Spurs will have TD there mostly. DEN who knows. Hickson now? LAC is BG, so Dwight would wreck him in the face. MEM is an aging Randolph. GSW will be David Lee.
