WTF? Is this a serious thread? Artest (I will always think of him by his REAL name) for Asik? Dude, that is so stupid it should be a bannable offense. I do NOT want Crazy Pills back here. Not even for the vet's min. I am pretty sure he would destroy our chemistry and just steal limelight from Dwight. Not no. HELL NO.
I meant to say assuming we kept Asik. Artest would be (in this scenario) a vet min signing who could compete for time at the 4. I didn't know that I would get so many anti-Artest posters, but I guess posters don't realize he still has value.
It depends on whether the Rockets feel he'd disrupt the chemistry. I do feel he has two things to bring to the team. One is toughness, as our current team is fairly soft overall mentaly. The other is respect on the defensive end. Artest can get away with a lot of crap from the refs because he's Artest. If he's around, it may help slow down certain opponents that are getting whistles left and right. But I would prefer someone less old and less nutty if possible, like Brewer.
No one said to trade Artest for Asik. Assuming we didn't trade Asik for a legit PF, would you mind bringing in Artest is what the OP meant. I'd say why not, he is about to be amnestied by LA so they will be footing the bill for the majority of his salary. As others have said as long as he comes in knowing he is not guaranteed anything and he is willing to take a role where he comes in when Coach Mchale calls his number I don't see why adding a vet with a couple of different tools like Artest has would hurt.

Artest was amnestied, we wouldn't have to trade for him. I don't think that's what the OP was suggesting
Yes. Lost quickness but still a strong defender and a competitor. Probably one of a very few that can hold his ground defensively against LeBron physical strength. If we think we can go all the way, he would be valuable just for that.
