Funny thing, I was strongly against the Howard trade the Rockets were trying to do. Why? Because I said over and over and over again, it would have been a circus and not only that he'd end up leaving the 30 million on the table to go elsewhere.

That certainly would have happened. Who knows where the Rockets would be now? Maybe Morey is fired and they are tanking for Wiggins?

As for the Pau deal, I don't to this day know what Morey had planned to do with that.

Thanks to Stern. For as great as Morey has been, had he made that move or successfully traded for Howard last season instead of Harden both would have been pretty bad moves.

Because Howard has shown that yes, yes he will leave 30 million on the table...and as for Nene and Pau front court. If Nene had stayed healthy that would have been fun for a season or two sure.

Why the hell does every single reporter out there lack a fundamental understanding of the poison pill clause of the Lin and Asik contracts? It only affected the teams that were trying to resign them, not the Rockets or potential trade partners of the rockets.

Ugh. Just reminded me how much I dislike D.Aldridge. He's more annoying to me than most reporters.

    And his laugh! *Shudder*

If you ever get the opportunity to listen to him on "The Tony Kornheiser show", you'll hear his laugh. Like nails on a chalkboard.

Thank the stars for Stern blocking that trade.

What if this and what if that....there is a lots of "what if" events in this world. I can pick one right now. If David Adridge's mom and dad never met, he wouldn't have existed. If his mom were sick that day, she would not have met his dad and he would not have existed in this world. Therefore, he may not have been a writer and may not have worked in the NBA and would not have write a prediction of the Paul's situation and there wouldn't be a thread on this and i wouldn't have make a comment about it. But i did.

Its a little worrying hearing about Dwight's ego problem. I wonder how that will mesh with the rest of the team. What if Greg Smith has a big night, or Canaan, or one of the other bench guys? Will Dwight get mad at not having enough touches?

If he's really all about winning, then it should not be a problem. But with how our offensive system is everyone gets a fair amount of touches

Thanks to all the comments above, I didn't bother to read the article.

Scrolled further down, I think Celtics' new HC Brad Stevens is quite a good looking guy.

Let's not play the what-if game w/ Howard. Keep in mind, leaving "$30M" on the table was made much more palatable coming here because we don't have taxes, so out of the 4 yrs, he actually made more here. If he assumes he will opt out on his 3rd yr to sign an extension or even go elsewhere, whatever, he makes that $30M and change back.

If anything, his comments showed me how much he valued the $30M, almost choosing LA. Dude did not like his coach, wasn't a fan of the criticism (saying it was not fun there or to play w/ LAL), and did NOT mesh w/ Kobe. That's a lot of 'work environment' issues that he was almost willing to stomach for the $30M. I doubt we would have been as bad.

It wasn't about the money at all, he'd be a multimillionaire no matter where he goes.

He did not almost go to the Lakers. There were hints WAY back at all-star game and by the time FA came it seemed some of our insiders were about as confident about it as ever...so did GMs and FO say they were all pretty sure he'd be coming here.

We would have gutted the team for Howard and not only that he would not be in a rush to return from his back injury. He rushed back last year because Laker fans/media kept harping on and on about how he needs to toughen up because Kobe was toughening up. No, I don't think Howard would have stayed here for the 30 million at all. Because

Instead he'd likely go to the Major Market on the promises of movie deals and more sponsorship to make up for the taxes. In this universe though he found out that playing in L.A wasn't all it was cracked up to be. I don't think forcing a player to play unhappily for your team would have been a good idea. If it was ever about the money for Howard he'd be in Orlando still, they had given him the franchise, it was about winning with Dwight. More than people seem to realize.
