True. Now is not a good time to go all in. They still can't beat the Heat.

Incorrect. You're not allowed to give up consecutive FUTURE 1st round picks. But with that being said, the next eligible pick they could trade away is 2019 if they wanted to make any kind of deal.

After everything, their payroll went down overall, didn't it? I wonder if this is a money-saving move disguised as a bid to get better.

I don't know if that's the case, but it's exactly what it seems like. And they will sell tickets because it's a soft market.

Good ole Dennis Linsey killing the Jazz from the inside out. He was going to be the Rockets GM after CD but Les hired Morey so he went to the Spurs

Having watched most GSW games because my brother is a fan of them. I can say Jack and Landry was a great part of their success. Jack was an amazing leader and floor general, made big shots, and big plays, tons in the 4th quarter. Landry was a quality back up. Losing Jack and gaining Iggy in my honest opinion is an even trade with a slight advantage in Iggy. Jack was a 6th man playing starter min yes, but now starting lineup will be

    curry
    iggy
    Thompson
    Lee
    Bogut

on defense Iggy will gaurd the better player at the 3 or 2 spot.

If GSW can get a quality 6th man they are going to be better, if they dont they will be a like the Rockets last year. All guns until starters go out. Barnes is quality but I think you need more of a veteran 6th man. Either way they could be a very very very scary team.

Utah took the salaries because they had to hit the salary floor for this year while tanking and still maintaining their flexibility. They essentially got everything they wanted in this trade.

2 unprotected 1st rounders from a team that is an ankle away from the lottery
    reach the minimum team salary
    Tanking for Wiggins
Allowed Cousins and Kanter to develop

Sounds like a smart move to me. Unlike Les, the Jazz owners are letting the team tank to accelerate their rebuild. If somehow they land the first pick, they will have Wiggins, Favors, Kanter, Haywood another first rounder, and cap room for two max players.

Losing Jack definitely hurts, but rumors are they're gonna bring back Little Nathan, who would fill the Jack role perfectly.

sell tickets? soft market? you obviously dont follow the warriors that much. The warriors have been one of the top 10 teams in attendance for the past decade, despite having a capacity of less than 19k and very few winning seasons. Soft market? You think warriors tickets is a soft market? LOL... warriors tickets are on average one of the highest in the nba. Season tickets in the lower bowl of the arena has been unavailable (ie sod out) for the past decade.

As for that twitter guy @worstthancohan, dude is a hack. If you want knowledgeable warriors info, go to goldenstateofmind, or even mercurys tim kawakami who's never been afraid to criticize and waged a dogged campaign (some readers say hatred) against cohan and his cronies.

Regarding Iggy, Landry and Jack... Iggy gives something the warriors didn't have last year, a defensive wing stopper. He's a superior athlete that'll contribute in transition and as a playmaker in spots. Losing Jack and Landry is definitely going to hurt, but that was almost a foregone conclusion after the playoffs. It was never a likley possibility the warriors were going to be able to resign either of them. The ability to dump of 24 million in dead weight was so unlikely and unforseen that no blogger, writer or analyst even suggested it. Not mercury news, sbn, espn, cnn not goldenstateofmind, not even the nba dish of clutchfans or spursfan.

By shedding that 24 million, the warriors were able to sign AI and speights and possibly jermain oneal ALL while shedding about 10million. An argument can be made that, the warriors should have resigned Jack and landry instead. There is however no possible argument that the warriors resign jack, landry and keep their 14 and 17 picks alongs with the 2nd rounders, as that is an impossibility as the two are mutually exlcvusive. Its either you prefer Iggy, speights possible oneal or landry jack. Personally i rather have iggy speights and whomever else.

i think its a solid move actually.

you dont need offense on that team, you have curry and thompson to light it up. you need a premiere wing defender that can run the floor and guard the likes of harden and other western conference SG/SFs. This takes care of it.

    ESPN article... http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/freeagents-130707/nba-top-10-remaining-free-agents-2013

    8. Nate Robinson, PG, Chicago Bulls

Now that most teams have settled their starting point guard spots, they're beginning to look for backups who won't break the bank. That's the case with Robinson, who can provide instant production off the bench despite his small stature. One possibility: a return to the Golden State Warriors, where Robinson played two years ago and Andre Iguodala could help with playmaking duties.

    Likely destination: Golden State

That would be a great fit. Also, to those who say Iguodala will take minutes away from Barnes/Thompson - look for Mark Jackson to frequently play Barnes at the 4 spot with both Thompson and Iguodala on the floor. If Bogut can stay healthy and if they sign Nate Robinson, they would definitely have an improved team over last year.

Also... David Lee sucks. I hope everybody realizes that.

That's exactly my point. By "soft market" i mean a market in which it is easy to sell tickets. The ownership doesn't have to put a contender on the court in order to make their money. They simply need a semi-competative team that will fight for a playoff spot. They don't need to dramatically improve each season, just make "splashes" with names like Iggy. My point is that they lowered their salary and mortgaged their future all while selling the idea to their fans that they landed a star, which they didn't. It seems to me that ownership wants to do as little as possible to keep fans coming to games. Does Iggy make them better? Maybe a little for a year or so, but he isnt getting younger, and his entire game is based on athleticism, which is already declining.

As for Jack, Landry vs Iggy, there was a third option: keep your picks and play out the year until something better than Iggy comes along, whether it be via trade or just waiting for what looks to be a good draft. Maybe even keep one of Jack or Landry (not sure if that eould have been possible). But I would have kept the picks either way. As is you are marginally improving a fringe playoff team at the cost of developing either Thompson or Barnes a bit more, and tons of draft picks. Not sure I would have done so unless I was in fact just trying to appease fans rather than spend the money to truly improve the team. But hey, I'm no GM and I suppose the same could have been said of Mioey until this year. Difference is, though, that Morey did it while stockpiling picks for the most part, not trading them away. Even he made a mistake with Ariza though, so who knows.

Yes indeed, that would be a nice pick up. I will never understand people walking away from a good team for more money. Jack might have a nice future in Cleveland depending on free agency next year but Landry is stuck in a hell hole. Regardless of their new team, they had a great situation in Golden State that I personally would not walk away from.

Speights and Robinson > Jack and Landry? Not so sure..
