I doubt that asik wants to be traded, he may be upset about gnot be not being the main big on this team. In my mind though he has more defensive presence than dwight does. Not to mention that asik has shown us that he is hungry to prove himself and is the work horse of this team. Asik is in the right place to grow, it is good for him and good for dwight in the sense that they both can share the load and minimize injuries.
Also, I am still a bit skeptical about dwight and I would like him to show usthat he is ready ro work and lead a team
Too bad it is reality that counts more, huh? You mean like the time he led the ORL team to the nba Finals?
Of course not, neither one of Omer or Dwight is jacking 3's. If you read my post entirely in it's own context, you would realize that the comparison is from a low post, interior defense POV. And the comparison being having 2 good defenders in the frontcourt protecting the rim and defending the low post. Pls don't add what is not written to what is literally written in a post.
I think that asik showed a lot of drive and hustle this season, which made him very dominant. Not that asik is a better player than dwight, but but as the old saying goes "hard work beats talent, when talent doesnt work hard"
I hope they do hang onto Asik. I understand if Asik wants to go somewhere and start because he certainly proved to be a starting caliber center in his first season as a starter. However, I see too man benefits of having both Asik and Howard to want the Rockets to immediately trade him. Having Asik back up Howard would allow the Rockets to not ride Dwight Howard so hard, and that probably helps keep Howard healthy and fresh and even extend his career. Also, it gives the Rockets a starter at all times when one of them gets in foul trouble. But still, if there is a move to be made that makes the Rockets better, Asik will probably need to be moved. I just don't want to see a trade made just to accommodate an unhappy player (assuming Asik really does want out). I don't think Morey would do that, anyway.
I was looking at rosters last night and the only realistic trade scenario I saw was the Ryan Anderson rumor. Although I do think Anderson would be a good fit next to Howard he is overpaid and I think having Asik as a back up is more valuable. the most likely situation I can see is holding on to both Asiik and Lin until at least the trade deadline. at the trade deadline there is always a team fighting for a playoff spot and willing to reach for a player that can put them in the playoffs such as Asik or Lin. But if they are not moved this year or next offseason their trade value will be exponentially larger at the 2015 trade deadline when the rockets can pay most of the poison pill and get that third star (LMA or Love). So IMO you have to keep the roster as intact as possible throughout the season and develop DMO and TJJones. If you expect the third star that everyone thinks we are going to "NEED" this year I think you will be disappointed.
Response No question Asik's offensive production did improve throughout the season, but a lot of this was due to Lin's willingness (sometimes stupidly IMO) to keep on passing to Asik who often failed to convert easy shots or catch quick passes. I definitely see a ceiling limit in Asik's offensive skills. One area Asik is definitely better than Howard is in FT shooting and perhaps in the willingness to work hard and improve.
Yeah, I like Ryan Anderson out there with Dwight, but I don't think Anderson for Asik is a good trade for the Rockets. NO would have to add something else. Asik is an elite defender and rebounder and Anderson is elite at nothing, though he is a solid stretch 4 and a decent rebounder. Still, Asik is far more valuable. Also, I think the Rockets have their 3rd "star" already. I think that player is Chandler Parsons.
A Twitter last night said they saw Asik at the ICON movie theatre in Chicago. So he's not out the country and he knows very well what's going on. He is getting the news. Why not come out and say Oh, I didnt ask for a trade?
also I realize that Asik is a prideful dude but doesn't he realize that him and D12 make the best C rotation in the league? If he played out his contract with D12 and shows up like he did in last yrs playoffs he will be a 14 million a year player for a dumb team, especially if the rockets are able to get a championship with him playing a significant role.
What probably happened was he said something like he was concerned about his future as a Rocket with the Dwight signing and then the media turns that into Asik demands a trade because Dwight is a terrible person.
People are twisting this around. We've all seen how the media takes news or a quote and manipulates it. I could see Omer's agent saying to DM, "It's just that Omer sees himself as a starter, I know you understand. We get the Dwight Howard thing, it's disappointing, but we get it. But it would be best to find another team for him, since, let's face it, he isn't a four." Then this can become: ESPN BREAKING NEWS: Rockets sign 50-50 flip flopper; Omer Asik demands trade or, as translated from Urban Turkish, "Somebody's gonna get cut up in this mug"
I agree with you about CP25 and really look forward to him making another step in that direction next season. Asik for Anderson doesn't make sense and the only other thing that I can see the Rockets getting from the Pellicans is may be a second round pick as first rounder's will be useless to the Rockets going forward due to the cap hit.
Who cares how Asik asked for the trade. It's clear that he's not happy with the DH12 coming to Houston.
SportsRadio 610 @SportsRadio610 24m Want to know what other potential move the Rockets could make this off-season? Listen --> http://cbsloc.al/12P77sB interesting piece in there from amik said that one of the GMs that was in the howard sweepstakes said that more NBA GMs were interested in Asik then Howard. Said he was a huge fan ( I am assuming atlanta) That is interesting as I think Asik could be the key to get the 3rd superstar. Love or Aldridige. Most likely aldridge. i would think Asik, Jones or Dmo, 2 first round picks (2014 draft is suppose to be one of the best in years everyones holding onto those picks) They could even rewwork the trob trade as it wont be completed until july 10. give them their players back, and picks, and use trob, one of jones or dmo, asik and 2 first rounders. I think that at least gets us into the conversation.
If/When the Rockets trade Asik, you can bet that Morey will look to fill that "back up C void" with someone. It won't be the person Asik was traded for, but rather filled by a Vet big or an underrated backup big ready for a bigger role.
