Naah. He doesn't need and likely won't develop an arsenal. He just needs 2 moves: a goto and a counter. Regarding topic trends, every player holds the possibility of positive and negative narratives. It is interesting seeing which ones get promoted. Winning is a cure all and tends to influence which narrative makes the front pages.
Sour grapes from yet another MFFL who swallowed Cuban's line of BS hook, line and sinker about the Mavs having a chance to get Howard. But don't worry about him because I'm sure he'll be amongst the first in line next year when Cuban starts selling the MFFL zombies on the hope that the Mavs can get LeBron.
Precisely my point. JVG was on Mike & Mike this morning talking about the idea that Hakeem & McHale can teach him what he needs to know about playing the post. Well, according to JVG, the guy has been in the league 9 years now and he hasn't "put in the work" to improve his level of post play so what leads anyone to believe he's going to change now? The biggest point JVG made is that Howard has had "issues" with every coach he's played for once that coach demanded accountability from him. Well, he's now out of excuses. HE picked Houston and McHale's system. HE wants to be the "man" - OK fine. So when McHale starts demanding some accountability from him, the should be NO issues.
Was never a big fan of DH12, but his rebounding, ability to finish strong above the rim, and his paint presence are simply undeniable that he would be a major piece of any team/system. I didn't like him before because he didn't have reliable post moves and never worked hard on his post games, and I liked him even less after all the drama in Orlando and LA. But now he's with us, I will support him wholeheartedly, just wish him won't let us down, especially those fans wanted him so bad. When we are winning, everything should be fine, but when we are hitting a few bumps on the road, I don't want to hear complaints about touches and plays to the media. The pressure is on Howard to change people's view, and it's time to work with McHale and Dream. Go Rockets! (Too bad that we might have to part our ways with Asik. Wish him all the best!)
Stephen A.: Dwight was leaning towards Houston long before the season had come to an end. Dallas was never a viable option. Same for Atlanta. Golden State creeped up into things. It came down to 30 mil or Houston. James Harden had been working Dwight. It was a forgone conclusion. I asked Dwight, I said to him, if Phil were the coach, would you be leaving. His answer was a flat out no. (Dwight would like to come on the show and is planning on it.)
I wonder how many more sessions DH will have with Hakeem now that he's here. I know Hakeem lives in Jordan, but you have to believe some sort of offer was made during that meeting to provide more training sessions. If Dwight can develop 1 go-to-move over each shoulder, he should be unstoppable. Also, does Carroll Dawson still do big-man tutorials for us? I remember him being a big-man guru.
If there is a sports personality I've grown to hate over the years it's been Stephen A Smith... with that said, over the past few months, he's slowly become the voice of reason over at ESPN. He's become their only insider you can really trust when reporting on basketball news. He's nailed some wild stories (Rivers) and hasn't reported BS like the Broussard's. And now he's almost coming out and clearly yet subtly speaking out against some of ESPN's reporting. "Dallas never had a chance" or in other words "go F yourself Broussard". I like him now.
SAS has always been a reputable insider. He just gets a lot of criticism for his arrogant character of First Take.
Gotta hope we keep Asik for at least a little while. Asik guarding him every day at practice will make the game that much easier for Howard when he is guarded by lesser defenders. They'll make each other better.
