Exactly. Shouldn't have been PG-13 in the first place. But obviously that wasn't gonna happen with it being a Sumner blockbuster and Brad Pitt.
Man...I gotta say I did not care for it as much as I thought I would. Just was a little too boring for my taste. Not much story, the action didn't do much for me, and it just didn't seem as epic as I think it wanted to be. Had some good stuff too, but overall just not that great. 5/10
Having seen the movie, I don't think the big screen allows for this story at all. I don't see how you can condense the scope and the different storylines down to a manageable time length. It belongs as a pay channel (HBO, SHO, etc.) series...a narrator tying it together loosely....different actors each week with storylines set in different parts of the world, as in the book. Having said that, I was entertained by the movie...it wasn't the book, but I still enjoyed it.
I read the book. I LOVED the book. I loved that it was a departure from the usual "hero-saves-the-world-BS", and just documented average Joe's struggles with Zeke. It was like reading a compilation of mini-novellas. I ALSO loved the movie. YES, it basically took the premise only and made a movie out of it. YES, it completely departed from the book in almost every way imaginable. It really had to, since the average Amercan's attention span is the time it takes to switch from one shiny object to another. The documentary aspect of the book is almost all gone. ALMOST. But it's not, really. My understanding of the franchise is that they are aiming for a trilogy with this story. Considering where the book went and where the movie went, I can see that happening. The first movie sets the premise. The second and third are like acts in any play. As a standalone action flick it was perfectly fine. A few plot holes, but they all have them. I think as a trilogy - see it in that light - it works as a great introductory piece, and it will work to fit the book into context. I just hope the studio doesn't crap out on it before Z2 is made.
Am almost done with the book, and my feelings are very similar. I guess what I've always needed in a zombie book was global politics and a lot of careful thinking. Seems like the writer has a combination of: a great imagination, legitimate OCD, legitimate anxiety issues, and a penchant for homework. good to have you back around, treeman. Cheers.
It make sense, I mean look at the Walking Dead? It's a zombie apocalypse show on freaking Tv and that has more blood than WWZ am i right?
Good Lord that original ending would have been horrible and seems like it would've added an hour to the movie. The wife and I checked it out at the new Palladium yesterday and both loved it. I read the book and she didn't. FWIW, Palladium is awesome. Freaking popcorn bucket holders.
I liked the movie. Thought the book had more plot holes though. Maybe it was the author's writing in detail about some things and then being generic/reaching about certain countries motives and decision making.
I thought it was meh, not bad but not good, 5/10. Wouldn't bother watching again One thing I had a problem with was the term "zombie." Considering it was called World War Z, you would think it would be accurate. Those portrayed in the movie were "the infected," not zombies.
