First of 365 (I hope): Job Search Tip of the Day, July 8, 2013 Limit your use of abbreviations in job search correspondence, particularly in email messages. Especially avoid BTW, LOL, and all other abbreviations prevalent in text messages.
If you reply with anything but a hotmail account, I won't respond. Professional headshot? Only if you want me to take you seriously. You didn't attach money to your resume? You must not want my attention. Not putting a link to your "WatchDog" profile? You know I'll find out.
BTW and LOL are not abbreviations, they're acronyms. But, yes, they should avoid acronyms that aren't widely known in the professional world. For example, everyone knows what PHP and HTML are, but they might know what SIS means.
my manager was telling me someone applied for a position here and his email was "jeffmedicalexpert@hotmail.com". I am not lying.
