    a possible scenario..

the kings want to sign monta Ellis so they need to clear more cap space

i reas the kings want to salary dump chuck Hayes and fredette to the Cavs. the cavs don't want to pay Hayes past this year, so they could buy him out.
then we could swoop in and sign him to back up Howard. then we could trade or keep asik. problem solved.

What problem are we solving, if you're saying we can keep or trade Asik?

Hayes is not a center, so it doesn't really matter..

Hayes would provide an option to back
up heard and provide legitimate defense if asik were to be traded for a 4
i know he's not a center but were you around while he played that position for us?
if he were to get bought out he's be a legitimate pick up. that's all I'm saying

for a contender, hayes is perfect as a backup pf and some minutes at center. he cant be THE backup center.

I dont see why he couldn't be the backup center part time for a few games. you forget he was the starting center for a while on a non contending team.

We're not going to trade Asik unless it's for a major upgrade. Morey already said that what Asik can do as a back up is more effective than what a upgrade at the PF could do, unless they're amazing.

We're definitely not going to trade Asik for two back ups, especially an undersized PF/C with limited to no offense.

I'm not trying to dis the Chuckwagon either, I loved watching the man do all the dirty work and play defense with great placement but on a contender I don't think the value is there when you trade him out with Asik... As a matter of fact, Asik excels at everything Chuck does and he's taller.

that answers your question. he was the starting center for a non playoff team. other teams will attack the basket hard.

some spot minutes at center is ok, nothing more.

I don't see what he does better than asik. . And do we really need a backup pf right now?

love what he did for us but he doesn't have a place with us atm

I woudn't mind having the chuck wagon back, especially against teams like Miami. Would be an interesting counter when Miami tries to play small ball, with chuck at the 4 and D12 at the 5.

Love the wagon as insurance but I'd rather develop DMO & TJones at the 4 if we aint playin small ball. I don't recall him having any type of mid range game.

you guys missed the point. I said if Hayes was available after a buyout by the cavs then, he would be a great addition especially if asik was traded for a 4. I never said trade asik first then pick up Hayes. be well friends

What's Charles Jones up to these days?

    Let's give him a 10-day contract.

He gets paid a lot. Were he willing to take the minimum to ride the pine with Omri, I'd be all for it. Otherwise, no thanks.

I'll never argue against a roster spot for Chuck at a minimum salary, should he not command much more than that.

But I shudder at the thought of our offense with him, Dwight, and Asik all playing heavy minutes.
