Just learned that Yao Ming will fly from China to Houston to attend DH12welcome news conference on July 13, 2013. That's pretty rare. I guess that's the idea of Rockets to show their respect to DH12?

Yao is all class . He went above the call of duty and made an actuall pitch via video to Dwight as well. This big guy is a champion in my mind.

Yao told Dwight in the meeting last week on skype that Yao will be in Houston for Dwight's press conference if he sign here.

    Passing of the torch.

Either that, or Yao is recruiting Dwight to play for his team the Shanghai Sharks.

Yao was flying in anyway as part of a China airlines direct flight promotion. Timing works out great for both.

This. Yao would not be flying out here just to be at Dwight's press conference. It's just a happy councidence.

I think yao should start getting ready to play mutumbo's role. 10 to 15 mins of yao off the bench would be awesome... I miss the big fella.

From all accounts Yao's pitch over Skype was very positive.

He's a great guy that's still supporting the team here and in China. Can Yao help Howard with any Chinese sponsorship deals while he's over here?

I think Dwight respects Yao because he's one of the few big men he couldn't dominate.

It says alot about the Rockets organization and especially Les, that so many ex-players voluntarily give up their time to speak to Dwight. As Clutch brought up in his podcast, Mutumbo only spent the end of his career here and still he chose to come to bat for us over say Atlanta.

Yao and Hakeem owe us and the organization nothing and yet Hakeem voluntarily flies in from Jordan and Yao from China.

    U da man Les

The real reason Dwight chosed Houston, Yao offered lifetime food at his restuarant, gamechanger.
